I sat down on the couch and observed all of the guests in the living room. Then I heard someone mention my name.
The voice came from across the room, and it belonged to a guy that I knew, unfortunately. His name was Paul. While I do have to admit that Paul was pretty cute (24 years old, 6'3", curly blonde hair, and a nice set of blue eyes), we weren't that close... at all.
Paul was talking to a guy wearing glasses. His name was Josh. He looked about the same age as Paul, stood at about 5'11", and had light brown hair and eyes. They were both laughing about something.
My friend Rick, a nice guy, was sitting on the same couch as Josh and Paul, but wasn't paying attention to what they were saying. He wasn't exaclt best buds with Paul either.
"I'm so glad that Danny and Matt are still together. They're so great for each other," Paul said.
"Yeah," replied the guy with the glasses. "Matt's a lot better than that guy Dan was with a while ago."
"Oh, Doug?" Paul said as he rolled his eyes. "That guy is the biggest jackass you'll ever meet."
Paul and Josh laughed at the comment, and continued to joke about me, unaware that I was in the same room.
"A jackass, huh?" I said to myself. "We'll you two, we'll just see who the real jackasses are in a second."
I pulled the device out of my pocket and smiled. Now, if it worked like I hoped it would, no one else in the room would realize the changes that would occur that evening unless I wanted them to.
I pointed the device at Josh and Paul, and pressed the red button. What appeared to be a small lazer beam shot out of the device, heading straight towards Josh and Paul. This was going to be fun.
The beam finally reached Josh and Paul. But then-
"Uh-oh," I said to myself, slapping my hand on my forehead.
The beam had hit Rick as well, which was not what I had planned. But for the time being, I guess I just had to watch and see what happened.
All three guys seemed to be in a daze at first.
"Hey Paul?" Josh said nervously, scratching his head. "Do you feel a little funny?"
Rick put his hand on his stomach. He looked sick.
