The mermaid swims away from you teasingly, and with your blood (you still have blood, right?) pounding in your ears you take a deep breath and jet away in her direction. You don't know why you're following - by all rights you should be taking your freakish, mutated body as far and as fast as you can in the opposite direction. But as she swims, just barely fast enough that you can't quite catch up, you feel... you're not sure what, but whatever the feeling is it's certainly in her direction.
She's leading - luring? - you out to sea, swimming deeper into the ocean. Soon you're at a depth that the sun's rays have trouble reaching, which lets you discover that your squidley appendages are slightly phosphorescent - lines of tiny biological lights along the topsides of your tentacles glow faintly in the dark. The mermaid swims very close to the rocks, humming a tune that almost seems to bypass your ears to go straight through your skull to the brain, and still you follow.
As you pass over the rocks yourself, you feel something release. You're jetting an extra little bit of something from the base of your legs, not just water through your back. The feeling is enough to shake you out of your reverie and you blink - or try to, at least, and you would if you still had eyelids - before spinning your arms to point your body downwards to take a closer look at the rocks.
By the dim light shining from your tentacled right hand you can just barely make out a sticky mass clinging to the surface. You scoop some up using your finger on the left to take a closer look, and notice little clear blobs inside. Fish eggs?
Wait - so you just...?
What in the name of Bruce-? What kind of sick mermaid did you get yourself tangled with?! Did you just fertilize mermaid eggs? You don't even want to begin to imagine what kind of freaky mutant abominations they might grow up to be.
She seems to be somewhat relaxed and distracted now that her part in this mating swim is over, though. If you hurry, you might be able to get away from her... On the other hand, she's probably the only one who can give you your old body back...
