You gladden when the newcomer stops his resisting. You send him feelings of how glad you feel that he's calmed down and accepted being part of you. You can tell that he, or more accurately "it" now, is pleased to have made you happy. It does feel good to have another consciousness with you now. For a time you also revel in the vigorous new growth that you've gained. After a time, though, the novelty wears off and you begin to crave new growth again. How to go about this, though?
Occasionally, you feel someone or something or other step on your roots, but it's not very common. Still all you have is time. With time you're able to sense when one of these beings is around by the footfalls within the radius of your roots. Most of the time its some form of four-legged creature, but occasionally it's a two-legged creature. These interest you the most for some reason. But they're also the ones who spend less time lingering. You remember that you were able to effect your newcomer's attitude with a little concentration. You wonder if this can be applied outwardly.
One day you feel another two-legged presence come by. You decide to concentrate on the outside sending the idea of tiredness and relaxation to the best of your ability. You concentrate so much that you barely notice a body leaning up against your trunk. You feel joy. You concentrate on your sap like you did once before, this time pushing it out slowly through the cracks in your back. You feel the creature stick to you. You feel it trying suddenly stir and try and pull away, but it's too late. You're destined to have new growth, and more friends.
