“I’ve turned into a mermaid!” You shout.
“Yeah,” Lydia said as she circled around you, coiling her tail around your body, “and I must say; you’re even more beautiful than I imagined you’d be.” Lydia ran her hand down your hair, which had also grown down to at least past your shoulder blades.
“So, you did mean for this to happen, me becoming a mermaid and not a merman.”
“Yes, and I’m glad to explain why,” Lydia said before placing her hands on your shoulders, “but in private.” Lydia pulled the two of you underwater and the two of you spit out the air in your lungs.
“What I’m about to tell you, you must promise not to tell to anyone, ever; understand?” Lydia said, her voice taking an ethereal tone, perhaps a result of how it was filtered through the water.
“I understand,” you respond in a similarly ethereal water-filtered voice, “though given our current state, how much bigger a secret could it be than this?”
“It’s up there, to be sure.” Lydia responded. “I’m bisexual. I’ve never told anyone, not even my parents.”
“Why not?”
“I couldn’t know how they’d react. I figured, since I liked boys as well as girls, and that I had a boyfriend too, I decided not to complicate matters unnecessarily.
“And giving me the ability to turn into a mermaid was a way to have a secret girlfriend?” You ask.
“It’s a bit more complicated than that.” She replied. “When I said you weren’t the only one with fantasies, they were mermaid fantasies too. As I’ve told you before, I’ve always loved mermaids, to the point of wanting to become one; and that it’s the reason I took up swimming in the first place.”
“Yes, I remember.”
