----------- BACKGROUND -----------
Danielle was a shy, depressed, 18 year old high school graduate. She was tall with long, straight, light brown hair, hazel eyes, and pale olive
skin. "She" wasn't completely a girl, however. She lived the first 16 years of her life as a boy, having been male from birth. She never felt quite
right in her body and she had always been the outcast in school. She only ever had a few good peer relationships in her life.
When she was in the 8th grade, she made the realization that much of her discomfort was gender-related. Adolescence marked the beginning of her
agony. Watching her body grow more masculine before her eyes was tearing her apart. Singing was one of her favorite activities and the thought of
losing her soprano voice was one of her greatest fears. Finally, in 9th grade, her parents helped her to find a kind doctor who agreed to prescribe
testosterone blockers in order to stop her from experiencing any more male puberty. Then she stopped getting haircuts and started practicing with
makeup. Her father didn't support estrogen therapy because it had irreversible effects, and he believed she might one day regret it... After she
turned 18, she got a prescription for estrogen behind her father's back.
She had managed to maintain her voice up to the point of getting the medication, but plenty of other damage had been done already. Her shoulders
had broadened, her face had become somewhat angular, the tiny hairs on her face and body were not dark and thick, but still had to shaved
occasionally, her hands and feet had grown, her voice had lost partial range and control and deepened only slightly, and she had reached almost 6ft
tall. On the other hand, her shoulders and waist were narrower than most boys, her hips were wider than most boys, her face was still relatively
feminine, her breasts had started growing, she had soft skin and long hair, she sounded like a girl when speaking and her adam's apple didn't show
much, if at all. The majority of people she met thought she was a girl and she often received compliments on her hair and makeup. But she didn't
feel complete. Her imperfections and masculine traits drove her into anxiety and depression.
----------- Present Day -----------
Danielle was in her room at her mother's house watching television and smoking pot. She was happy to be alone for the day. Her mother was working
and her sister was at their father's house.
The door bell rang. For fear of being seen by someone, she didn't get up to answer the door. After a few minutes, she went to see if something had
been delivered. She peeked out the front door. There was indeed a box on the front porch. She picked it up and was surprised to see it was
addressed to her. She went back to her room and opened the box. It had a strange device, an instruction booklet, 2 cables, a disc, and something
resembling a remote.
She opened the booklet to see what all this was. Upon reading that this was a device that could make physical alterations to her body, her yes lit
up. She couldn't believe something like this could exist! She quickly popped the installation disc into her laptop and clicked through the
installation steps. The software instructed her to plug the larger of the 2 devices into the computer. After doing so, a SCAN button appeared on
the screen. She pressed it.
A green light flashed from the machine. "Scan Completed." A list of properties describing her appeared on the screen:
Name: Danielle Corwin
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 170 lbs.

She was disheartened when she saw her sex listed as male, but now she could fix that...
