At the bar with your buddy

You sit down at the bar next to your buddy, and pick up your half-empty beer. You have just returned from the
Men's Room. The bar stool is still warm under your butt. You wonder if it retained the heat for the two
minutes you were away or if someone else was sitting with your buddy. You glance up at the big flat screen
over the bar.

"Anything happen while I was gone?" you ask.

"Not much, bro. Cincinnati scored a three runs," your buddy says laconically sipping his beer. His eyes are
fixed on the big screen.

"What? I was only gone a minute," you protest, "How could they score 3 runs?"

"Shush, and watch, they should be doing the instant replay after this commercial."

You stare at the flickering screen. Currently, just some psychedelic pattern is spinning on the screen. The
slow moving image seems hypnotic. You sip your beer. It's warm, and flat. You weren't gone that long, you
think, and sip again. You start to feel really warm, and undo the next button on your shirt. The pattern keeps
spinning, your buddy sits in silence sipping and staring just like you. Time seems endless, and meaningless.
You lose yourself in the mindless thought of the moment.

Suddenly, your revelry is interrupted...

• It's the barmaid, she loads your buddy on to a dolly, he's a becoming a keg
