That Darn Officer Katz forms a plan - Nathan's not getting away with this

added by D 11 years ago A AR BM S TG O

"Officer Merow, are you alright?" was what Officer Katz tried to say, but what the world actually heard was,
"Mew, meow, mew, mew, meow-ow?"

He couldn't believe that he had been knocked off the evolutionary ladder this many rungs. He seemed helpless
as a kitten, he growled under his breath.

"Oh, kitty purring, he like me," babbled Officer Merow.

Poor Merow thought Katz, she's got the mind of a two year old. Oof, and the strength of a guy on PCP. Oh,
there's no way this perp is getting away with all this. I don't know what he did, seems more like black magic
than science, but I'll figure it out and reverse it.

"No kitty, stay with me," Merow said as Katz tried to struggle free.

Nathan collected the kitten's former clothing and noticed the badge, "Officer Katz. My you were aptly named,
or maybe I saw your badge while I was coming up with your new form? Wonder if the other officer is named Kidd?
Nope, Merow," he said aloud.

The toddler turned to his voice, possibly she recognized the name Merow or Katz, but more likely she needed a
diaper change. She started to cry. Nathan fondled the Medallion contemplating turning them into inanimate
objects, but he wasn't sure if that would kill them, and that would be bad karma. So instead, he changed
himself so that he would appear normal to everyone else, and collected the toddler and kitten, and headed down
to the police station.

"Hey, officer, I found these two on my doorstep this morning. Thought it was a prank at first, but no one
called to claim them, so I brought them to you."

"We got bigger problems, sir. Two of our officers are missing their car was found abandoned. Monroe, get
over here and take this guy's statement and call animal and child services," the desk sergeant bellowed.

"Now what's your name, sir?"

Nathan told him and his address and the approximate time that Katz and Merow showed up on his doorstep leaving
out the part about them being adult police officers at the time.

"Wait right here, Nathan," Officer Monroe ordered as he practically ran to his sergeant.

"What? That kid and cat were left at the door of this guy at the same time that our officers disappeared
right by his home! Do I think it's a coincidence? No!" bellowed the sergeant. He grabbed his phone in less
than 2 minutes two detectives were interviewing Nathan.

Nathan was getting a bit bored, and started playing with the medallion under his shirt. Katz was frantic, he
knew something was up with Nathan. His fellow officers weren't letting him leave, but the guy was dangerous,
more dangerous than they knew. He slipped away from Merow who had discovered a box of paperclips, and was
attempting to type on a computer terminal. His paws kept hitting extra keys, but he was slowly getting the
hang of his new body. If only he had time.

Nathan was contemplating turning the police station into a pre-school or daycare center or maybe a Chuckee
Cheese's. Someplace that the toddler would be at home, and all the prisoners in the jail would become toddlers
too. The sergeant would end up as the teacher or maybe Chuckee. He kept going back and forth in his mind about
which reality to choose, while the detectives tried to grill him.

"This is a serious matter, Nathan, tell us what else happened besides these two ending up on your doorstep,"
the female detective queried. Her name was Moskowitz, but Nathan was envisioning her as a teenage waitress
named Molly.

Her partner was the more serious type, and he put his hands down loudly on the table, "Enough futzing around,
Nate, come clean did you see or have anything to do with the disappearances of Officer Katz and Officer
Merow."

The kitten meowed loudly.

Merow played with the paperclips oblivious to everything else.

Nathan really hated being called Nate. He glared at the officer, and imagined him as the Pre-school's
hamster. The stubble on his chin revealed his naturally hairy nature, as it was still early in the day and he
did have stubble. Choices, choices, so many good choices, thought Nathan.

Katz grinned he had managed to type his log in and now the terminal came to life. He had to email the Captain
a warning before....
