Meanwhile, Hugh Garlepp met up with Tommy, who finally arrived to the beach house party. He was a little late, as usual, but finally had
arrived at the party.
Tommy gretted Hugh, as he said, “Hey, what’s up, Hugh?”
Hugh replied, “I’ve been good. I’ve been good. Business is the same as usual. Getting new clients, directing the logistics operation, and have
been just managing my plant like it’s nothing.”
Tommy gave him a brofist, as he said, “I’ll drink up to that.”
He then said to me, “Josh, you’ve met Hugh, haven’t you? He’s a good friend of mine and Alexandra, and Alexandra you’ve already met, right?”
I said, “Yup. She’s a nice, lovely lady.”
Hugh asked Tommy, “Yup. She’s a sweet gal. So Tom, how’s law school?”
Tommy replied, “I graduated. A couple months ago in fact. I’ve already lined up a position, in fact, two positions. One is for me to be the
Assistant District Attorney. The other, if I turn that one that, would be to be the lawyer of public defendants across the state.”
Hugh replied coolly, “Both good jobs. Both good jobs. How’s the dating game? Have you settled down yet? Find a nice girl?”
Tommy replied, “Yup. I married her about the same time I passed the bar exam. That lucky, buxom beauty would be Theresa Francesca
Larsen. She’s a 29-year old beautician, and just the best.”
Hugh replied, “Sweet. So Josh? How’ve you been? Still been the same go-getter you’ve always been?”
That would seemed to be a jab, in jest, as I had taken a couple of years off. I decide to brush off that comment, to take it with a grain of salt.
I said, “I’m doing okay. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I’ve been attending law school, after taking a couple of years
off. Haven’t really thought about internships, but I’ll manage just fine.”
Hugh asked boastfully, “Any lady prospects yet? You know, there are several at this party. Elizabeth, that 5-5 curly haired blonde tart right
there, she’s an innocent virgin of a 20-year old. What a sweetie. Melissa, the 5-9 D-cup brunette in black high heels, just the life of the party.
And Alexandra, holy crap she’s awesome. Just the best. She’s a real…head turner.”
I replied, “I have something of that sort in mind. I keep my options open.”
Hugh replied as he walks away, slapping me on the chest, “Good. Get more beer. I’m already on my second Jagermeister, so let’s drink up.
It’s a party.”
Tommy replied to me, “He dated Alexandra. I don’t know if they’re still dating. He manages a company that ships manufactured goods to my
law firm. “
I replied, “Oh. Good to know.”
Tommy asked, “So, about that swimming gear situation, how’d that go?”
I said, “Well, we covered that, but we’re probably not going to go for a swim anyways. I’ve been busy hanging out here, walking and talking
with the regulars at the beach house.”
He said, “Well, that sounds good. You know, you should go out for a swim. It’s a nice day out. Where’s your friend, Randy? Where’d he go?”
I said, “He stayed inside to spend time with Alexandra. He has his phone on him, so I can call him whenever I need to.”
Tommy replied, “Sounds good, Josh. Anyways, we should get some food, these guys make really good barbecue ribs here on the grill. Let’s
get some.”
I replied coolly, “Alright! Sounds great.”
We then headed over to the grill, to get some barbecue ribs.
