Now over the years between 1740 and 1755 Gregory Quark had been puzzled over Dorothea's red irised eyes,
and it was when he'd invented the Quark Universis External Synapse Transmitter ( QUEST )
that he'd started finding the answer to that mystery.
Simply put,Fast Light could be reshaped by amplified human thought
directed towards it,and the QUEST was a Harrison H3 chronometer
( with some Quarkian modifications that allowed Quark to alter the colour, speed
and direction of the Fast Light beam that shot out of the QUACK
And he'd discovered that as he used his gizmos to fashion
the FL into the form of a walking locust along his arm that his
irises took on a light reddish hue during that process.
Dorothea' eyes were deep red.
So Quark had been keeping tabs on her, aching to drop one of his modified H3's around
the young womans lovely neck and see how much 'horsepower' she had under the hood.
Now one fine night Quark had been reading the latest broadsheet installment of the
"Laidley Worm" that was all the rage in northern England these days.
It was the tale of a Elizabethan sailor named George who discovered a
baby dragon on a rugged isolated coast, befriends the beast rather then slaying it,and
disguised as a sort of Elizabethan superheroe armed with a longbow, went about
rescuing damsels in distress, fighting off the Spanish Armada and made
the odd visit to the New World with his less than trusty Triggernath dragonmount and
rescued Pocohantas now and then from the French explorer LaSalle and the villainous LeBoeuf.
