The theory of holographic DNA was still somewhat of a mystery, but the chamber before Ashley was not. Several scientists had
discoveredthat by beaming information through a slightly radioactive source, say, a laser beam, that information could be transferred to a
living being. The creature's DNA and genetic makeup was altered - mutated - and the creature itself transformed to the whim of the
scientists. Or so was the theory.
As with most theories, there had been numerous setbacks. All of them, though, had lead to the creation of the TransF chamber. A room
that generated three dimensional radioactive energy to affect an entire biological organism, instead of small parts of it. In this manner
mutation could be applied swiftly over the whole body.
Or that was the theory as well. The chamber was equipped to handle an organism as large as a giraffe, with a rolling metal door to facilitate
entrance. But it had barely been used for such large scale tests, instead zapping insects, small reptiles, birds, and some mammals.
This test was different though. The animal in the chamber was a large draft horse named Zeke. He was nearing the end of his life and was
still good and strong. His old fashioned owner had only ever used him as a plow horse and had recently purchased a small tractor. So the
farmer had sold Zeke at an auction for a low price. The animal had been snagged by the laboratory "subject aqquisition" team.
If the old draft felt any discomfort at being slowly cooked with non lethal doses of rads he didn't show it. The animal was calmly looking
around the room. Ashley took a deep breath, noted the subject was showing no distress, and prepared to order the experiment, which
was...
