Mark and Aaron headed to their class lockers after leaving the locker room to grab their stuff. They parted ways and headed home for the day.
On his way home Mark felt parched from practice. He opened the cap of his water bottle and took a gulp of refreshing, still cold water. He was just heading down the front steps of the school, when he lost his balance, tripped, and fell face first. He got up in a bit of pain, dusting off his pants, and looking at his hands to see the cement had scraped them. At least he wasn't bleeding.
Mark didn't notice yet, but his body had already begun to change! He appeared to be a few inches shorter. He regained his composure and continued on his way home. Good thing no one was around to see that. He continued walking at his new height of 5'9". He was unaware so far of what was going on with his body.
Mark took another gulp of water from his water bottle. Suddenly he became woozy, and his vision blurred! He closed his eyes tight, hoping that maybe something just got in his eyes. Blinking, he opened his eyes. He could barely see in front of him! Everything else was a blur! How was he going to get home now?
Luckily Mark knew his way pretty well. Even without being able to see much. He finally made his way home after taking extra time and care to make sure he made it home alright. Walking up his front steps, he misjudged the height of the steps, and tripped! He fell on his already scraped hands, scraping them further. He got up in pain, slowly and brushed himself off. He looked at his hands to see if they were bleeding this time. They were, and it stung pretty bad.
He opened the door knob with his hurt hands, and stepped inside. Looked like no one was home yet. He rushed to the bathroom to clean and bandage up his hands. Weird, was the bathroom doorknob always this height? He stared at himself in the mirror. Something looked off, his clothes looked like they fit funny. Like they were too big. His vision was still pretty bad.
He hoped he didn't need glasses. He'd look like a total nerd for sure! His friends would probably make fun of him too. Mark noticed something else too. His skin appeared to be lighter than usual. What the hell was going on??
He felt weird, like he didn't have as much energy as usual. He thought maybe a bit of extra exercise could help energize him today. It usually seemed to work when he felt lazy. Though part of him just wanted to stay home and get homework done. Wait... homework? Isn't that what he beat up the nerdy guys at school for? Why was he suddenly thinking about homework?
