Jakes Lost on the Road of Transformations

added 10 years ago O

And nobody answered the door, namrly because his uncle and two cousins had 400 acres of wheat to combine before the week was out and where at that moment driving two combines and a 18 wheeler grain truck down some gravel road about 6 miles west of their house, heading to the next rented
field to harvest before it rained in 6 hours.

So ,although Peter Vandenbussche and his two sons Henry and Hubert
wore the requisite weathered blue jeans, with red checkered lumberjack shirt and "Vandenbusshe Farms"baseball cap,the 3 well muscled farmers weren't thinking about their nephew/cousin Jake.

So Jake pounded on the door a few more times and after a hour of no answer, decided to take a stroll down
the country road.

He'd walked a mile before he came to the intersection and looked at the road signs

Cultus Creek Side Road 5 and Coyles Lane.

Taking a guess,Jake decided to take a stroll down Cyles Lane.

After 3 miles the wimpy citykid came to the washed out country bridge.

Peering down at the creek he saw a shiny circular object winking back at him.

The object lay pristine on the gravel bed and appeared to be some kind of headlamp from a old style car.

There were trees all around blocking the Sun from view but there
appeared to be plenty of light,so Jake chanced it and climbed down the bank and soon was wading through a foot and a half deep stream
towards his prize.

Finally he reached the object and yes,it was a old style headlamp
with the 'Hudson ' stamped on it.

Then he saw another object on the creekbed a few yards away.

Jake headed towards it and found a cast iron traqctors seat.

Then as he was moving along he tripped and fell into the stream.

When he got up,sputtering,he'd lost his bearings. One side of the bankleading up to the
washed out road surface looked pretty much the same as the other.

So getting that first nervous twinge,Jake took a guess and climbed up to the road again, abandoning the tractor seat and the headlamp in the graSS.

He trudged along in hi soggy clothes and came to another intersection just as it was clear the Sun was going down soon.

The road signs said
Cultus Lane and Cultus Creek Side Road 6.

Now had he come down Side Road 6 or 5?

Jake looked at the approaching darkness and took another chance.

Down he marched S R 6 and hoped his uncles house was at the end of it.

It wasn't of course and soon it was dark and Jake had to admit he was lost.
