You couldn't get out of there fast enough, Ms. Adair was the most terrifying person you had ever met. You'r
arm still stung from where she stuck you with a needle to draw blood for god knows what to track you, and what
she said about everything, you shake your head.
"God what I gotten myself into." you think.
Looking around you see that you've wandered into the men's room, currently abandoned, your stomach
grumbles, making you realize that you haven't eaten, and that fear and hunger doesn't mix. you head to the
cafeteria on the second floor, the whole place is stone grey with tile floors and two rows of four marble
columns.
the tables are a mix of wood and granite with a built in computer menu. from the elevator bank you just
exited, you can see the walls are covered in various screens that switch between advertisements, alerts,
notes, maps, and even video calls the eastern side of the cafeteria contains the food line and kitchen.
Finally, a huge window stretched across the room, not offering much of a view because of the other building
obstructing the view.
"Excuse me?"
You turn around to see who spoke and are met with another unusual sight. A guy, about 4 feet tall, with a
long nose and stringy hair, he looked old and wore glasses and a black suit.
"Hi there, I'm James, your new here yes?"
"uh yeah." you reply "can I help you?"
"oh my, you'r still adjusting, although, I suppose in more areas than others." He snickers a bit before
continuing. "Anyway, I'm one of the other photographers here, I heard someone new was being considered, and
since your here, I guess you survived introduction, and impressed Ms. A enough for her to not kill you."
"she could have killed me!?" you ask shocked.
James snickers again. "ahh, no, but you would have had your memory wiped."
He leads you over to one of the tables and activates the menu. "what do you eat?"
"just some cereal, a muffin, and some juice." you suddenly remember that you only bought a few bucks with
you. "How much is that by the way?"
"Nothing, employees eat free, well the ones at my level do at least, which is why i'm ordering for you,
that 10 bucks in your wallet should be spent on something much more worth while.
You stare at him in shock for a few seconds. "How did you know that?"
"The same way I knew you were the new photographer." he continues nonchalantly. "the same way I knew you
had sex with jenny last night. And the same way I knew you were still terrified of this place."
He finally looks back up at you. "I'm an imp, and imps have incredible senses of smell."
"How many monsters work here?" you ask.
"A little over half the staff." He goes back to playing with the menu. "And believe me, the ones who find
out about us, the monsters, don't stay human themselves for long."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You spent the rest of your lunch with James, which wasn't his real name as you learned, he told you about
all the jobs he's had for the past 1,500 years, and about what you should expect as a photographer. In return
you told him about how you were contacted by Ms. A and a few more things about your self.
eventually you both finished and had to part ways. 12:00 PM, what to do now?
