Morgana held her breath it had to work. It just had too.
Then she sneezed again, and leapt up out of her seat for this time she felt a tail protrude from her
posterior.
She looked down at the shattered necklace, all the crystals were glowing now. Her attempt at breaking the
spell had merely accelerated it. Witchcraft 101, she recalled, if you're cursed trying to undo your own curse
will probably make it worse. There was no time to go to the coven. She knew what needed to be done, but she
daren't cast the spells herself. Her apprentice? Princess Sara? Could she manage it? Maybe to cure her
sister as well as Morgana? Morgana was pretty sure her curse and Georgina's were one now, you couldn't break
one without breaking the other. Georgina was scratching her arms and body uncontrollably, she noticed. Then
she realized she was doing the same thing. Her skin was rapidly getting scaly.
"Wait heeeere," Morgana hissed. She was startled at her own voice, the curse was working faster than she
liked. Soon she wouldn't want to be cured. "Maybe my apprrrrentisssse can help."
"Apprrrrentisssse? But you'rrrre the witch!"
"Yesssss, but I held the amulet, and now sssssharrrre yourrrr currrsssse. Only one frrrrree frrrrom the
currrsssse can brrrreak it."
"Oh!" Georgina roared, "I ssssee."
Morgana didn't really care if she understood or not. She slipped behind a tapestry and emerged in front of
Sara's cage.
"What happened to you?" Princess Sara asked staring at the disfigured witch.
"Yourrr ssssisssterrr happened to me! I ssshould never have trrried to brrreak herrrr drrragonesssss
currrssse."
"My sister? Georgina?"
"Yesss, Georrrgina. I touched herrr necklace beforrre I rrrrealized it conveyed the currrssse. Now I
sharrrre herrr currrssse. You neverrr touched the necklace, ssso you ssshould be able to brrreak the
currrrssse on both of usss. I'll tell you what you mussst do if you don't want to be eaten by a
drrragonesssssss. Be quick," Morgana said as she undid the cage, "I don't know how long I can
rrrressssissst."
Sara leapt out of her cage, and kept a sharp eye on the draconian witch, as she followed her into her
workshop. She couldn't help but blurt out, "You've got a tail!"
"Tail, ssscales, clawssss, and fangssss!" roared Morgana struggling to fight her growing draconian urges. She
coughed and a ball of smoke shot out of her mouth. "It'sss all happening too fassst! Ah, herrre's the book.
Thissss sssspell ssshould do it." She pointed with her now 3 inch long sharp black fingernail.
Sara read the spell with one eye are the witch, and her hand near a knife sitting on the work bench. She
didn't know how much good it would be against a witch or a dragon, but it might buy her some time, if the
witch changed before she broke the curse. She was surprised at how simple the spell was, but some of the
ingredients she never heard of before.
"Do you have all these ingredients?"
"Yesss, yessss, yesss, argh, no, but you can get drrrragonssss bane in the drrragonesss' cave. I will
teleporrrt you therrre, and back, but be quick. The currrssse issss affecting my magic."
"What does Dragon's Bane look like?"
The witch hurriedly opened a hand illustrated book of herbs. "Take with you, now!"
There was a flash of light, and Princess was in a musty dark cave. Using the white match, and candle she
carried in her apron pocket, she soon could see the illustration of dragon's bane.
"Ew, it grows on petrified dragon droppings? Hm, there's something growing over there," she went deeper into
the cave.
Morgana stared at the cave image in her looking glass, and trembled. Part of her was yearning to go there -
to go "home." She shuddered, Sara was her only hope.
