Jake rubbed his head and looked up at the person he had knocked over. He was stunned, and unconsciously turned on, when he looked at Jason Thornwood. Jason was a well-known person at Jake's high school. He was the head captain of the baseball team, received a full ride scholarship for baseball to the local university, and was only a sophomore in high school. But that wasn't all. Jason was also known for preaching outside after classes every week. He condemned everything from alcohol to the government. But what he condemned most strongly was homosexuality. Jake knew that this would be the true test to see if the curse was real. There'd be no chance that Jason would be his boyfriend otherwise.
Jason shook his head and looked up at Jake. "Wow," he said, smiling and standing up. "Not many people can deck me like that. You must really missed me." He walked over and hugged Jake, kissing Jake's cheek.
"I...uh," Jake stuttered, horrified that the curse was indeed real. Jason didn't notice.
"Come on," he said, tugging on Jake's hand. "If we don't move now, we're going to be late. It's a good thing I happened to be parked close by." Jake just followed dumbly after him. "I was coming back from my paper route when I ran into you," Jason continued. "Guess who in the celebrity world is now engaged."
"Uh...who?" Jake asked, his mind slowly coming to terms with the fact that Jason was his boyfriend now. He was beginning to dislike the idea less and less the longer he held onto Jason's hand. Jason grinned and shook his head as he jumped around to the other side of his car.
"Guess," Jason demanded as he hopped in.
"Fine," Jake said, also jumping in. "Emma Watson and Rupert Grint?"
Jason stopped smiling and frowned at Jake. "I've told you before not to joke about heterosexuality with me. It's just wrong," he said, shaking his head. "We've already gone over this."
Jake's mouth dropped open. What was Jason talking about? Heterosexuality being wrong? Yet, it sounded strangely familiar to how he spoke about...
"Anyway," Jason said, smiling again. "Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey!"
It hit Jake like a ton of bricks. Of course! The only way Jason would be gay is if being gay was the new socially-accepted norm. Jake was stunned but relaxed when Jason rubbed his shoulder.
"You okay?" he asked. "You haven't said much, and you seem tense. Is everything alright? You can tell me."
"Um," Jake mumbled and paused. He couldn't decide whether or not to tell Jason about Kyle's dare or not.
