Nate awoke the next morning to the sound of his cell phone ringing. He jerked awake, finding himself lying on his bed, back to his old self, bare ass naked. He stumbled to his long discarded pants and pulled the phone out of the pocket. It was his friend Jamie on the phone.
"Hello?" grumbled Nate, still trying to remember what all happened last night.
"Dude, turn on the news right now. You are not going to believe this!"
Nate fumbled with the remote, clicking on the T.V. What greeted him was grainy, cell phone footage of a werewolf rampaging through a suburban neighborhood.
"Oh my god..." muttered Nate, as his entire night came flooding back to him.
"I know, some guy dressed up in a bad ass werewolf costume and scared the bejeezus out of some soccer moms. I figured you'd like it..." said Jamie.
"I gotta call you back..."
"As of now, the police have no leads as to the identity of the man in the werewolf costume and are asking anyone with leads to contact their office," said the anchorwoman.
Nate breathed a small sigh of relief. At least nobody recognized him, apparently. He started to smile as he reflected on the previous night.
When he left the house, he ran through the back yards around his complex, jumping around, rolling in the snow, enjoying his werewolf self. Then he spotted one of his neighbors, Jackie along with a couple of her friends arriving home.
Nate hid in the shadows as he watched them approach the building. When they got close, he leaped out in front of them and let out a deep, menacing growl. All three women screamed and turned around, running back to the car. Nate smiled and ran off, content with giving his friends a thrill they won't soon forget.
He ran through a few more back yards when he came across a young teen walking down the street. He spotted Nate in the shadows and slowly walked towards him. Nate walked into the light, curious to see the teen's reaction. The teen's reaction was first of surprise and then smiled.
"You...you're a werewolf aren't you?" asked the Teen.
Nate nodded. The teen stepped closer and examined the werewolf.
"Cool," he whispered. "My name is Peter."
"Peter? Are you out there?" called a woman from the house.
"Yeah!" yelled Peter back. He turned back to Nate. "You should go. My mom has a gun. But...maybe sometime you could come back. Make me a werewolf too?"
Nate nodded and slinked back into the shadows as Peter went back inside.
From there, Nate dashed through the neighborhoods into the center of town, where people walked up and down the sidewalks of the main street. He watched from the alleyway between two buildings until a sudden urge came over him. He leaped out of the alley way and landed on a parked car. He sat on his haunches and threw his head back, letting out a loud howl.
At first, the crowds of people stood there stunned. Nate looked over the crowds of people as they looked at him. He then let out a loud menacing growl as he swiped at people with his large, black claws. He jumped off the car and chased after a group of thirtysomething yuppie women until he caught sight of a couple alpha male types across the street, the type of guys that objectified women and still acted like frat boys even as adults. Nate hated guys like that and ran across the street to attack them. Cars swerved out of the way, crashing into one another. Nate grabbed one of the guys and threw him into a brick wall and threw another through a glass door. He let out another howl of triumph and ran off into the night.
He found his way home and quietly re-entered his home through the back door. He closed the patio door behind him, stumbled back to the bedroom and collapsed on his bed, quickly falling asleep. As he slept, his body slowly reverted back to normal.
Nate switched off the T.V and looked over himself. He was largely back to his normal self, except he was still skinny with some new muscle definition. He sat on the edge of the bed and focused on his hand again, willing it to change. His nails slowly grew out into claws and the same black and gray fur started to grow it. Nate smiled to himself. He was going to enjoy this.
