It only took eight hours for Morgana's plan to work. In the middle of the night, Prince Todd showed up outside
my window. Ordinarily, this wouldn't mean anything. However, my window was on the third floor, and there was
no balcony or roof below it.
"Princess Sara, I presume?" He asked.
"Oh my God! How are you doing that?" I asked, jumping out of bed.
"Oh, it's a simple levitation spell, nothing important." Todd said. The way he said it actually seemed to make
it sound more special than it already did.
"That's fantastic." I said.
"Yes. Now gather your things, I'm going to get rid of these bars." He said.
I ran around the room, grabbing anything of importance to me. As I was reaching for a ring that had fallen on
the floor, I remembered something, or rather, someone.
"Wait." I said.
"What? Are they enchanted?" Todd asked.
"Oh, the bars? I'm not sure. What I meant was, I don't think we'll be able to get her out the window." I said,
pointing at Maedel.
"Does it matter?" Todd asked, clearly confused by why I would want to bring a wooden statue with me anyway.
"Yes, more than anything else. This isn't a normal statue. This is an elven ranger. Morgana cast a spell on
her, and I can't leave her behind." I explained.
"Oh, I'm sure we'll be able to restore her somehow. First though, I'll need to come in and take a look." He
said, returning to the bars. Within minutes, he had transformed them into rope. He cut them and came into the
room.
"I must say, this is the nicest prison I've ever seen. Now, let's see if I can help your friend." Todd said.
"Ugh, what was that?" Maedel said, clearly having been woken up by Todd's entry.
"That would be me. I'm here to rescue Sara, and now that means rescuing you as well." Todd replied. He
examined Maedel for a few minutes, but paused when he reached her legs.
"Are you aware that there is a button between your legs?" He asked.
"Don't touch that!" Maedel said, perhaps a bit louder than she should have.
"Alright, I'll take that as a yes." Todd said, getting back to work. After another few minutes, he stood up
again.
"This is strange. Tell me, how did you get this way?" Todd asked.
"I was in her magic maze, and got turned into this." Maedel said.
"Is that all that happened?" Todd asked.
"Well, it was actually a little more complicated." I said, "The maze turned her into a tree. Then Morgana
turned the tree into a statue. Then I had her give Maedel's soul back to the statue. Then there was the button
thing, but I really don't think Maedel wants to talk about that."
"That makes more sense. Unfortunately, that means we have a problem. Those are a lot of very complex spells.
If there were only one or two on you, I would be able to fix it, albeit it would take a lot out of me.
However, because there are so many, reversing them all would take everything I had, if not more." Todd
explained.
"Isn't there anything you can do to help?" I asked.
"I have an idea, but it might not work." Todd responded. He started casting a spell. After a minute or two, he
stopped. "Now, Ms. Elf, try to move."
Maedel complied, and to her surprise, was able to move around. Instead of being a stationary statue, she was
now fully mobile.
"How did you do this?" She asked.
"I used an animation spell. Now we have to hurry, I'm not sure how much longer the witch will be asleep." Todd
said.
