Cal had been trying to lose the cops for an hour now, but they wouldn't let up. It looked like there were only
three cars following him now, but the others probably weren't far behind. The car made a warning beep. It was
running out of gas. Cal checked the glove compartment to see if there was anything he could use. He found a
handgun. Apparently, the people of Flotham weren't as stupid as he thought. He pulled into an exit, driving
off the road and into a gas station. Fortunately, the airbag stopped him from being injured too badly. On the
other hand, now he had added destruction of property to his theft charges. Fantastic. Cal grabbed the gun and
jumped out of the car. Most of the people had already cleared out after the crash. Cal ran through the back of
the gas station and started running. He only made it to the Taco Bell nearby before the cop cars found him.
Cal ran into the restaurant and fired a shot in the air. The entire store cleared out except the girl manning
the cash register.
"Please don't hurt me sir, I'll give you whatever you want." She said.
"Great, thanks I could use the help. Are you bulletproof by any chance?" Cal asked. Considering what game mode
he was in, he figured it was worth asking.
"What? No. I can change my eye color though." The girl said.
"Awesome, but that probably won't help me get away from-" Cal started.
"Freeze scumbag!" Shouted the police officer who just ran in the door.
Cal knew he was running out of options. He had one idea, but it might not work how he intended. Still, he had
to try. He pointed his gun at the cash register girl.
"Don't make me!" He threatened. Cal was nervous now. If this didn't work, he would lose the challenge, and
possibly face some jail-time.
"Sir, put the gun down." The police officer said.
"Why would I do that? Once I do, you're just gonna arrest me." Cal said.
"Sir, I'm telling you, this will all go a lot easier for you if you put the gun down." The cop said.
"Yeah right. Now seriously, I'll shoot her if you don't give me a reason not to. And please tell your partner
that sneaking up behind me is a really obvious strategy." Cal said. As soon as he finished the last sentence,
he heard a gun clatter to the floor behind him. "Thank you. Now it's your turn." He said, motioning with his
free hand toward the officer in front of him.
"You'll regret this." The cop said. He obviously meant it, but he put down his gun anyway.
"Wonderful. Now, I'm going to walk over to this nice girl, I'm going to grab her, and I'm going to leave." Cal
said just before doing just that.
He had the girl by the arm and a gun to the side of her head. He walked out the front door and over to one of
the police cars. There was only one out front, which meant the other two must have been in back. Cal shoved
his hostage in before climbing behind the wheel.
"You should know, this really isn't what I wanted to have to do." He said to the girl, still pointing his gun
at her as he started the car.
"Oh yeah, that means a lot." She replied.
"You've got spunk kid." Cal said. He didn't really know if it was the appropriate scenario for that, but he
always wanted to say that. After that, he drove for miles to the next town. Once he got to a parking complex,
he stopped the car.
"We have to get out." He said.
"Why?" The girl said.
"I'm not gonna drive a stolen police car around. First though, I want you to get out and start running. Here's
thirty bucks, call for a ride." Cal said, handing her the money.
"You're letting me go?" She asked.
"Like I said, I didn't want to take anyone hostage. I just need a car." Cal said. The girl got out and ran
down the stairs. Shortly after, Cal got out and took a different car. As he rolled down the street toward the
highway, he saw a police car tear in. The cops got out and ran into the parking complex. It looked like Cal
had made it out just in time. He was on the highway now, and just needed to keep going.
