Alex still felt uneasy about the potential job. No matter how much he asked, Miss Cyoci never gave him a straight answer about the job. Alex figured it must be a sales job.
Alex drove his old clunker to the address. It was laid out a lot like a normal car lot except Alex couldn't see any normal cars. A full third of the lot was construction vehicles. There was a long line of different kinds of busses.
“Can I help you?” asked Simon Cyoci.
"I was told about a job opening. I was given this note to hand to you." Alex tried to read the note but either the penmanship was horrible or it was in a foreign language.
Simon read the note and said, "Of course. Just look around and pick out any vehicle you like."
Alex said, "I don't understand. I'm here for a job, not a tractor."
Simon said, "We have many openings but we need to know what you're most qualified to do. Consider this an interview. Whichever vehicle you pick will help us decide what job is best for you."
Alex said, "Okay." He wondered which kind of vehicle meant what. If he picked a bus, would that be a sales job while a crane equaled a job in management?
Then he saw a police car. Alex asked, "Do you sell police cars too?"
Simon said, "Of course we do. Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, all kinds of vehicles. You want to test drive one?"
Alex asked, "Seriously? Isn't it illegal for a civilian to test drive a cop car."
Simon said, "Not in this lot. Just stay in this lot and yes you can test drive a cop car."
Alex was excited. He didn't want to be a cop nor did he want choosing a cop car to reflect poorly on his interview. But how often does one get the chance to sit behind the wheel of a cop car? Alex decided to forget about the job interview. He
wasn't going to pass up this opportunity. Simon gave him the keys and he sat in the drivers seat. He put the key in the ignition and . . .
