Settling down for the evening before sundown after a long, hard and satisfying day of hiking, Mike begins to prepare his new campsite for the night. After setting up his tent and gathering some firewood, he decides to go over to the lake to fill his Camelback with much-needed water, both for cooking his trail food, and for drinking.
He uses his iodine tablets in order to kill off any harmful bacteria. Unfortunately, it does not neutralize the experimental virus. Rather, it speeds the transformation along. Having no idea the water is thus infected, Mike proceeds to eat his dinner for the night before turning in.
