I watched my now male, canine mom play catch with a frisbee, sniffing
posts and marking them, and getting to know the other dogs. She seemed
completely happy, as if she was fine with having been turned into a
dog. I made a wish, and learned why. Her brain had shrunk to fit its
new home, and it was now unsuitable for higher thinking. As far as my
mom was concerned, She was, and had always been, just a male dog owned
by me.
As we walked home, I though about this development. My mom was gone,
replaced by a loving loyal companion. I had free reign over what I
did. I was in control, and "he" did what I told him to do. I made a
wish, and tags now dangled from the dog's collar. They name tag read
"Butch", and the other had my address. I thought it'd be fun to have
dog for bit. I could always change "butch" back later.
After we came home, Butch curled up on the sofa next to me. I turned
on the television looking for something to watch. A knock at the door
woke butch up, he woofed gently. I got up and looked out.
It was Daniel. He had been going steady with my mom for a year, and we
didn't get along. He always acted nice around my mom. When she was
gone however, he would come over and mooch off of us. He would boss me
around, and blame any messes on me. I looked at Butch, and then at my
ring. this could be fun.
I opened the door:
"Hey Daniel." I said.
"Hey twerp. Is that a dog?"
"Yeah, ...mom helped me pick him out."
"Speaking of which, where is your mother?"
"She's... not here right now." It was the truth, sorta.
"I see, she's working late right? Okay then. I don't think she'll mind
if i stay awhile."
He plopped down in a chair, and began channel surfing.
"Bring me a cola." He asked.
"Yeah yeah..." was my reply as I walked into the kitchen. As I came
back in, I made a quick wish. I held the can of cola out.
"Here." I said.
Daniel took a swig of the drink, and continued watching tv.
I sat on the couch, waiting for my wish to happen. Suddenly, Daniel
got up and...
