His slightly expanded ears twitch. Did he hear a sound just now? He must have. It sounded odd, distorted. What was it? Was it...
Weeping? It was. It must have been. But... That... That meant he wasn't alone in here, not anymore. His heart raced. What was be
going to do? What if this other someone saw him? What would she...
Wait. How did he know it was a she? Her scent. He could tell by the scent. Oh, man oh man. It was getting further along. His hearing
improved. His sense of smell... He was going to be a bull for sure - he could see the end of that tunnel pretty clearly now. He could feel
himself getting bigger. Denser. This was nuts. Larger musculature started to strain against his clothing. And still, he found himself on
the move, heading towards this odd-sounding weeping.
Though the closer Paul got, the less odd it sounded. Huh. Did that mean...? Then he saw her - huddled in the shadows of the barn,
trying to remain out of sight.
"Hey," he said, his voice so much deeper than before, "are you okay?"
"Go away," the also deep, but not quite so deep, voice answered. Paul could tell it was feminine, even though a human would disagree.
"My name's Paul," he said, stepping closer and ignoring the demand to leave. "What's yours?"
"Just leave me alone!" She snarled, and at this distance, he could see that her back was turned towards him. "I'm a fat, ugly girl who's
turning into a fat, ugly cow and I am not in the mood to be bothered!"
"Ugly? Who says you're ugly?" Paul asked.
"Well, just LOOK at - oh," she stopped short as she spun around, looking at him for the first time. Paul couldn't help but be struck by her
beauty. She was amazing. "I'm uh... My name's Sylvia."
"Hi, Sylvia," Paul said, smiling as well as his changing face allowed. He couldn't tell if she was further along than he was, but that didn't
matter. She was gorgeous. "Mind if I sit down?"
"Uh, no, no. Go right ahead..." She smiled.
Paul stepped forward, and sat down with a loud and sharp tearing sound.
"You uh... You ripped your pants," she said with a soft giggle.
"Oh, yeah, guess I did..." Paul glanced down. The tatters kept him covered, but just barely.
"Sorry about... You know. This is all very upsetting to me is all."
"It's alright, I think you're the only reason I'm not freaking out. Somehow, having a pretty cow here with me makes this a lot easier."
"Heh," she chuckled, and if it weren't for the soft layer of cow fur on her face, it seemed she would be blushing.
