“I’d like to go find Rose,” said Colette.
“So you’re certain about her?” I asked.
“Almost,” she answered. “I won’t know for sure until we can see her apartment.”
I didn’t understand. “Why is that?” I asked.
“Stuff I picked up when I read her thoughts,” she said. “I can’t give you a good explanation, it was all kind
of hazy. If we see her apartment, I’ll know for sure.”
I asked, “And if you like what you see?”
“Then I hope you’ll agree to her and make her a vampire,” she answered.
“If she doesn’t agree,” I asked.
Colette opened her mouth but said nothing. I don’t think she anticipated this question. “Hopefully she’ll
agree. But if not…we’ll have to persuade her,” she said.
“OK,” I said. I found it interesting that Colette was willing to persuade another person when I had not
wanted to do that to her. Maybe it was her idea that while we would be equals, whatever other people who
joined us would not be, and therefore could be persuaded to do what we wanted.
We finished eating and cleaned the dishes we used. Colette asked, “Where is the bathroom in this place?” I
led Colette back up to the second floor via our ability to pass through the ceiling and floor. I showed her
the bathrooms that were on either side of the second floor main room. She looked unimpressed. “These are
nice,” she said. “But shouldn’t we have something more…private?”
“What, up…stairs?” I asked as I realized that our bed chamber couldn’t be reached by stairs.
“Yea, come on,” she said as she levitated toward the ceiling. I followed her up to the bed chamber. She was
looking around the room. “This room is smaller than the one beneath us, so there must be room for a bathroom
up here,” she said.
“What do you want it to have?” I asked.
“Everything,” she said. “There are going to be four of us, so there needs to be four sinks. There needs to
be a shower.” She stopped and smiled for a minute. “To be on the safe side, a shower big enough for four
people. There needs to be a tub, too. One that can be both a regular bath tub and a hot tub. And—“
“It needs to fit four people?” I cut her off.
“Or more,” she said. “But at least four, yes.” Colette proceeded to tell me what color it should be and give
just a few other general ideas of what it should have. Then I wished for this magnificent facility to be
created. A low rumbling noise echoed in the chamber and the castle shook for a moment. The bathroom
manifested at the end of the chamber exactly opposite the bed. It didn’t jut out into the existing space as
the door to it appeared in the middle of the wall.
Colette skipped into the bathroom and the lights came on as she entered. Glad to know that wish worked well.
“Oh this is amazing!” she exclaimed. “Come on in here!”
I followed her in. I was blown away by what I saw. This was the type of bathroom the only rich people had.
Again I was impressed by what the ring could create. “If it weren’t for the toilet, you might just think this
is a mini-spa or something,” I said.
Colette took off her robe and slippers and stepped into the shower. I got confirmation that the place had
running water when she turned the shower on with no problems. About a minute later she opened the door to the
shower. I had to admire how incredible she looked with water dripping off her perfect body. “You coming in?”
she asked with that smile of hers. Needless to say, I entered the shower with her. We did more than just
shower, too.
