They got to Amy's house, and almost instantly, after asking Amy, Lina used some of her bread and jelly with the peanut-butter she had just
bought, and made a sandwich.
"Well," Lina said, a little too excitedly "down the hatch!" and she started eating.
As she ate, Amy saw Lina was getting shorter, looking younger, and if she didn't know any better, she'd say she her ears were getting floppy.
Lina continued to eat, unaware of her changes, until she shrank into her clothes upon finishing her sandwich.
"Are you alright?" Amy asked.
Lina crawled out the neck of her shirt. She was now 5, and more shockingly, she was now a toon puppy!
Standing up, she licked what was left of the sandwich from her front paws (hands).
"Great DANE!" Lina happily exclaimed "That stuff is super-duper! It's yummy and good! You've gotta try it, Amy!"
"Lina, don't you see what happened?" Amy asked, looking worried.
"You bet!" Lina happily exclaimed, wagging her tail "I crossed over inta peanut-butter paradise, and it felt great!"
"That's not what I meant." Amy said, upset "Look at yourself - notice anything?"
"You're right!" Lina said, looking at herself "How could I have missed this?" and she picked up a clump of peanut-butter stuck to her furry chest
with one of her front paws, and licked it up.
"Thanks, Amy." she said, smiling "I woulda been the laughing stock of the neighborhood if I'd gone out there like with peanut-butter stuck to
me. You really are my bestest friend in the whole wide wonderful world!"
"No." Amy said "You've changed!"
"Well this IS a new collar I'm wearing." Lina said, looking at her pink collar with diamonds "Think it'll make the other puppies jealous? Should I
switch back to my old one?"
Amy couldn't believe her ears - Lina was acting like she'd always been this way.
"You know you're a 5-year-old cartoon puppy, right?"
"Why ya bringn' it up now?" Lina asked, looking hurt "I thought that kinda thing didn't matter to ya when we met. You are my friend, right?"
"Yes," Amy said "but that stuff is magic - it made you like that and made you think you've always been like that!"
"That's silly." Lina said "That kinda stuff doesn't really happen. I know magic is fake. I showed ya when I exposed that magician two weeks ago
in the middle of his act. Remember?"
"That never happened!" Amy said "Snap out of it already!"
Amy looked at her with sly, but cute toon puppy eyes, and said to Amy ....
