"...transform, I guess."
"Very well," Kyle replied. "I'm glad you said that. The transformation will work thusly; from this moment on,
we will live in a new world. A world in which all young people begin to transform partially into an animal in
their teens. They will be treated as pets and livestock, rather than members of human society. Although they
will retain their human consciousness, it will be inflected with animal instincts and urges."
"You're a crazy person," Jen replied, her voice shaking slightly, ready to slam the phone back on the hook.
"For the time being, you will remain human. But your first changes will come soon. I look forward to our new
reality. Oh, and this and shall be permanent - carrying on the curse will be an exercise in futility, as
you'll only be able to alter minor elements of the transformation, such as fur colour or species."
That proved too much for Jen, and she hung up abruptly. That guy was a nutjob, she reasoned.
That was, until, she heard an odd sound from next door. Poking her head around the corner, Jen spied a
baffling image...
Her younger sister, Danielle, was on all fours, licking water from a bowl. The bowl itself was engraved with
the word Dani.
"Danielle?" Jen whimpered. "What are you --"
Danielle turned her head. Her face was completely changed -- it was furred, her mouth elongated. A tail wagged
from above her behind.
Jen's sister resembled more of a dog than a blonde teenager. She was, apparently, the family pet.
Jen's face turned a ghostly white. The curse was real, that was for sure. And the changes had only just begun.
