”Forget it, you’ll just twist our wishes!” exclaimed Kevin. “I wish you’d both go away!”
Nothing happened.
”Sorry, we have to fulfill the conditions of our summoning first,” said Elizabeth. “That means granting your desires.”
Kevin sighed and said to Jennifer, “I guess we at least have to wish for something minor.”
The skinny, pockmarked Goth girl still looked a bit terrified. “This was your idea,” she insisted.
”Okay, fine,” said the boy, “I wish Jennifer had perfect skin.”
”I got it,” I said to Elizabeth, as I magically altered the high schooler. The bumps and divots in Jennifer’s face disappeared, and I couldn’t resist giving her a nice tan, darkening her to the bronze color of a sun worshipper -- it looked extremely incongruous with her Goth clothing.
”Whoa!” exclaimed Kevin. Jennifer put her hands to her face and felt nothing but smooth skin.
”That tan is permanent, no matter how much or how little sun you get,” I explained. “You don’t need to worry about sunburns, you’ve got no freckles, no moles -- you don’t even have any body hair anymore.”
Jennifer pushed one sleeve of her black sweatshirt up and looked at the smooth, tanned skin that was there, feeling it with her palm, an expression of disbelief on her face.
”See, we’re not horrible,” Elizabeth said. “He wished for perfect skin for you, and that’s exactly what you get. Now, what’s next?”
