Evelyn-Tim and Tim(posing as Lilith) strolled back down the small hill to Paul, who had watched the entire
exchange with trepidation. He couldn't explain why, but he had a bad feeling about this girl. Call it a hunch.
"Paul, this is Lillith. Lilith, this is Paul."
Tim(Lilith) and Paul shook hands, and Tim smirked at being "introduced" to his best friend of over ten years.
"Hey, Lilith. I've never seen you around here before."
"My family just moved here from out of town not too long ago, like I got just through telling your buddy Tim.
I'm starting school tomorrow. And...why are you boys cutting class now? You two seem like you're the bookish
type, no offense." Tim smiled a tooth-full grin again, trying his best to act like the femme fatale you see in
so many old noir movies. Surprisingly, he thought he was doing pretty good at it so far, but maybe that owed
more to Paul and Evelyn-Tim's natural gullibility than his feminine charm.
"Oh, we are the bookish type" grinned Tim right back, continuing to try too hard. "In fact, we're reading a
book right now. A grimoire, if you can believe it."
"Is that a book of spells?" Tim pretended to ask.
"Yes it is. And no, it's not the Necronomicon in case you were wondering."
Paul held onto his uncle's book tightly to his right side, hesitent to show it to strangers, let alone this
one. He had no idea how he let Timmy drag him into skipping school for this...scheme. He had rationalized it
to Paul in the following way...Hey, you and I both have a perfect attendance record and are model students.
Kids are supposed to try and play hookey at least once in their lives, so given that we have nothing to lose,
why not today?. But the more he thought about it, the more he hadn't like it one bit. After all, he barely
only figured out his first spell the other day, let alone something of this complexity and magnitude. And
Timmy was still learning how to decode the book at all.
Paul didn't realize that Evelyn-Tim wasn't his oldest and dearest friend, and was only using him to exploit
Paul's power via the spellbook like Evelyn Campbell did so in her own lifetime(though of course Evelyn-Tim
didn't remember her previous lifetime) to so many other good men via their money and assets. Lilith's latent
demoness powers felt this disconnect between both them. Seeing where the tendrils of fate might lead either of
them or both of them, the real Tim saw that Evelyn-Tim wanted to skip school today in order to use the
spellbook in order to spend more time on becoming rich and powerful. Altering reality to make them both high
on the hog, living lavish, and so on. Evelyn's soul was cunning enough in order to do this, and was good at
accomplishing certain manipulation tactics to defraud and exploit Paul. Tim could also see that Evelyn, while
evil perhaps in the technical sense, didn't see herself as thus. She legitimately did love her family in her
old life, and did her best to provide for them, but with Paul it seemed like the relationship was almost
entirely based on a con. Paul meanwhile, had planned to use the spellbook today in order to study it further.
To Paul, the book was just a means to gain greater wisdom and understanding about the world...about life. In
most scenarios that Tim could witness, he saw his friend benefiting more from him cutting ties with Evelyn-
Paul.
The problem was, how to go about it?
"Oh cool. I love magic. My friend...from from out of town that is, had a grimoire too" answered Tim. "I
practiced a little at it myself."
"Oh, so that's it!" yelled Paul, smacking the right side of his head.
"What's it?" asked Evelyn-Tim.
"I'm sorry. I just had a really funny feeling about you, Lilith. Not a bad one, but something I couldn't quite
put my finger on, and now I realize it. I cast a spell on myself earlier that would be able to recognize other
magic users, and the feeling I got must have been it! Like a Spidey-Sense, you know?"
"Oh!" exclaimed Tim, having no idea what Paul was talking about(Tim figured that Paul must having done this
while he was stuck inside Evelyn's body). "That makes sense. Y'know, I never heard of that spell, but I
actually am a relatively powerful witch."
"Really, Lilith?" asked Tim. "Show something to us?"
"Alright" grinned Tim.
Suddenly, the three of them teleported to the highest point in town, looking over the entire city and suburbs.
"Wow. Lilith, that was amazing!" beamed Paul. "According to my Uncle Edmond, you have to be at least a Level 5
magic user in order to teleport without an artifact. How did you do that."
Tim smiled through his pouty demoness lips. "Because I'm just that good. What else do you want to do, guys?"
While Evelyn-Tim and Paul both thought about what they wanted to do, the real Tim stared off at the distance,
for the first time not feeling any vertigo.
