You shake her shoulder saying, “Rosa, wake up, there’s someone I’d like you to meet.” You beckon Daffodil into the tent as Rosa wakes up.
“I told you not to wake me up when you got back, Laverne.” Rosa said groggily.
“Yes, but I’ve got a good reason.” You gesture toward Daffodil, who had entered the tent and closed it behind her. “She helped me find my way back when I got lost. Her name is Daffodil.”
“Uh… hi, thanks.” Rosa said unenthusiastically, as she was still half asleep. “Can this wait until tomorrow? It’s…” Rosa looks at her watch. “1:45? You’ve been gone that long?”
“I told you I got lost, but that’s unimportant right now. What if I told you Daffodil here was a fairy?”
“I’d say you need to get some sleep right away.”
“It’s true.” Daffodil said.
“Okay, so where are your wings, then?” Rosa asked.
Daffodil gave a flick of her wrist and a wand appeared in her hands. She tapped the wand gently on her back and her wings re-emerged. “Right here.” She said, pointing to the gossamer sheets that had sprouted from behind her before tapping them again, causing them to retreat once more.
The sight finally snapped Rosa into full alertness. “Wha… you really are a fairy!” she said.
“And she can do the same for us, too.” You tell Rosa.
“Huh?” she said, dumbfounded.
“She can turn us into fairies.”
“Well, not alone I can’t.” Daffodil said. “I need the assistance of everyone else at the clearing to achieve this. If you wish it so, that is.”
“C’mon Rosa, it’s what we’ve always wanted!” you said enthusiastically.
“Yeah, when we were in first grade.” Rosa replied.
“You’re honestly telling me that now; when you know fairies are real, and we have a chance to be ones ourselves; you don’t want to go through with it?”
Rosa thought for a moment. “Is it permanent?” Rosa asked Daffodil.
“It depends on your viewpoint.” Daffodil said. “Let me explain: If you undergo the procedure, pure fairy magic will be infused into your bodies. This will drastically alter your physiologies, transforming you into fairies. The process is irreversible; you will be fairies permanently.”
“Now, as you can see with me,” Daffodil continued, “fairies can disguise themselves as humans. You would be taught to do the same so that you may continue your lives as normal. A liaison will also be appointed to train you in magic and to help you adjust to and keep secret your new life.”
“Seems to me like if we behave ourselves, there’s no real downside to this.” You say. “So, what do you say; want to be a fairy with me?”
