Looking at the screen, Erin said, “Where in Maryland do you live?”
“In a town called…Rossville.”
That was a surprise to us; as we lived in Essex, about 20 minutes south of Rossville. “Wow, we live close by.”
“Really?” hopeful, Jamie said, “Is that good?”
“Yeah, I guess so.” Pausing, I said, “There’s a mall just outside Baltimore, called the White Marsh Mall.
Think you can meet us there tomorrow?”
“Sure, I can get directions from here.”
“Great.” Pausing, Erin said, “Before you go, you said something about tricks that people could use.”
“Oh right, I almost forgot.”
Jamie spent the next hour going over all the ways people could take advantage of me. The tricks were things
like; if Erin were killed then the murderer would be my new master, someone could trick Erin into making a
wish for them, they could forge Erin’s handwriting to give me a written order to grant a wish, they could hold
Erin hostage, or steal my lamp.
“Wow, I never knew humans were so trick.” Pausing, I said, “Thanks for telling us that, Jamie.”
“No problem.” Smiling, Jamie said, “I’ll see you both tomorrow.”
After ending the call, Erin and I sat down on the bed. We talked for a while about ways to circumvent those
tricks; coming up with various solutions. It was about 11:30 by the time we called it a night; as I poofed
myself back to the lamp.
