And just as you are starting to feel impatient again because you want her to notice you once more, she stands up amidst the pack of dogs and looks at you with a playful smile.
"You know what? I’ve just decided to take you on a walk instead."
From a pocket in her coveralls, she pulls out a leash and a dog collar and begins to walk towards you through the canine throng. And you feel like you are going to explode with happiness from hearing the news that she has decided to pick you. You find yourself having trouble standing still, shifting from one foot to the next, as she comes closer and closer to you. You also find yourself becoming truly alive at this moment. To you, it seems as if every sound in the room is suddenly right next to you and more distinct. You can hear your heartbeat, the kennel lady’s heartbeat and the heartbeats from all of the dogs in the room. You can hear your breath quicken, her soft breathing and the panting from all of the dogs in the room. The rustle of clothing and fur, the soft click of running claws on the hard, linoleum floor, the kennel lady’s soft footsteps, the hum of the air conditioning units up above, and the sound of something tearing with the sound of paper close by. It also seems to you as if every smell in the room has become crisper and easily to distinguish from one another. You smell the shampoo, the deodorant and soap that you used this morning to hide your own musky human scent. You smell that the kennel lady has done the same thing to cover up her scent except that she has also added on a subtle perfume to her skin. And you smell the individual scents from all of the dogs in the room with you and her. And much to your surprise, a certain number of scents in the room seem to have emotional attachments to them. You can smell eagerness, happiness, calm satisfaction, dominance and submissiveness, and so many more that it would take a day just to sort them all out. Then there is your sense of touch. You can feel something happening to you, but you aren’t sure what. But you can’t tear your gaze away from her to see what is making you feel so good and happy. She walks up to you and looks into your eyes as you find yourself smiling and panting like the dogs behind her. The kennel lady looks at you and smiles.
"So are you ready for your walk?"
You wordlessly nod your head and smile and pant as she continues smiling at you.
"Good boy, you really are going to be a good boy for me, aren’t you now?" She says to you teasingly.
You smile and pant, oblivious to the fact that you are limply holding your arms and hands in front of you in supplication. Nor are you truly aware that your outward demeanor has come to match those of the dogs behind her.
"Then kneel before me so that I can put these around your neck, my friend." She tells you.
So you squat down on the ground before you with your arms and hands resting firmly on the ground between your legs. And then you look up at her questioningly and await for her next move. She smiles and then bends down to meet you. She offers you her hand. You look at it and then sniff it. After that she reaches past your head and fastens on the dog collar to your neck. She steps back from you once the collar has been firmly tied around your neck. From there the sense of happiness and being truly alive for you begin to build and build. And just when you think that your human body can’t take it anymore, you look down and see that you are becoming...
