Scott found the spell he was looking for: a spell to switch the ways two people see a third person. It had additional phrases that could be
added at the end. One of the phrases even made it so that reality would adjust as well. Another made it so that the third person's views of
the other two also change. And a third phrase allowed the caster to control the amount of time the swap takes.
"Wow," Scott murmured to himself. "This is perfect! But there are so many choices with just this. How will I know what I want with this?"
He glanced outside where he saw Derek, the very muscular linebacker and team captain for Scott's college football team, holding hands
with his girlfriend Misty, head of the cheer squad. At the end of the block on the same side of the street was Jacob, a guy from Scott's high
school who had become a professional bodybuilder. Jacob was a perfect stranger to Misty and Derek.
That gave Scott an idea. Maybe he could test the different possibilities on those three. Looking at the book, he read aloud the spell that
made the swap immediate and not have reality change, making sure to say each person's name.
Looking back out the window, he saw Derek let go of Misty's hand, give her a weird look, and start walking away.
"Baby," Misty whined, a little confused. "Where are you going?" Derek didn't seem to respond. She ran up to him and grabbed his arm,
asking again, "Hey! Where are you going?"
Derek shook her off, saying, "Listen, girl. I think you have me confused for someone else. I don't know who you are."
"Hey asshole!" Jacob yelled angrily. "Get away from my girlfriend!"
"I don't think I like where this is going," Scott said to himself, undoing his spell and making them forget what had happened. They all shook
their heads before continuing on like nothing had happened.
"Now let's make a swap gradual and have reality change, too," he thought, seeing Mike, a friend of Jacob's, jog up to his bodybuilding
friend. He read the spell again, altering it slightly to make the swap happen in the span of two minutes. He then looked up to watch.
Derek and Misty were making out, and by the looks of it, were really getting into each other. Jacob and Mike started to walk towards the
happy couple, albeit slowly.
After thirty seconds, Derek and Misty broke apart and hugged.
Scott heard Derek say, "Thanks for being an understanding friend, Misty."
"No problem, Derek," she replied. They separated and Derek turned to see Jacob and Mike. One minute had passed.
"Hey Mike! What's up?" Derek said with a smile. Mike returned the smile.
"Well, they seem to know each other now," Scott murmured, watching the two shake hands and then pull each other in for a bro hug. He
noticed Misty starting to walk away, seemingly unbothered by the lack of attention she was getting.
"And I can't forget you, Jake man! Come here!" Derek said, pulling Jacob into a hug, not quite a romantic hug but more than a bro hug.
Thirty seconds left.
"You ready for our dinner tonight?" Jacob asked with a smile.
Derek said nothing, grabbed the back of Jacob's head, pulled it in, and kissed Jacob for a good ten seconds. The two minutes were up.
"Does that answer your question?" Derek asked when he pulled back.
"I'll take that as a yes, then," Jacob said before clasping a meaty hand on Derek's.
"Come on, you two lovebirds," Mike said. "Let's get to the gym before it gets too crowded." And with that, they walked away, Jacob and
Derek still holding each other's hand.
"I liked that very much," Scott thought aloud. "Now, how am I going to use this spell on my girlfriend and my best friend?"
