Sarah knew there was only one thing to do, and one person she could trust to help her with it. First, she dragged herself to the tub, plugged the drain and turned on the water. She then crawled to her room and grabbed her cellphone off the table then crawled back to the tub and climbed in. The cool water felt so good on her dry tail; and the tail itself fell smoother to her caress, almost like silk, that she had a momentary sense of bliss before her situation struck her again.
Sarah dialed the cell phone and another woman answered; it was her best friend Alyssa.
“Hello?”
“Alyssa, it’s Sarah, I need your help, please come over right now.” Sarah said, turning off the water, as the tub was nearly full.
“Sarah, is something wrong? You sound scared.”
“I’ll tell you all about it when you get here, I’ll be in the upstairs bathroom. Please, hurry!”
“Okay, don’t worry, you can count on me.” Alyssa said before she hung up.
She was right about that, Alyssa was Sarah’s oldest and dearest friend. They always had each other’s backs when they were in trouble and they never revealed each other’s secrets except under the direst of circumstances. Sarah knew she could trust her.
As Sarah waited, she figured now would be a good chance to see what breathing underwater is like. She sank her head under the water, her eyes didn’t sting, nor did her nose burn when water rushed into it. She blew out all the air in her lungs as bubbles and watched them rise to the surface before taking a deep breath of water. The sensation of the cool water flowing down her windpipe and filling her lungs was exhilarating. Even her sizeable breasts felt next to weightless beneath the water. Again she felt a brief pang of content before reality set in again and she resurfaced, spitting the water out of her lungs.
Minutes passed. By now, the fishy smell wasn’t as offensively obvious, but it was still there. The front door opened and Alyssa’s voice called out. “Sarah?” Sarah heard footsteps coming up the stairs. “What’s going on, and what smells like fish?” The bathroom door opened.
Sarah draped her green tail over the edge of the tub and said in a coy way, “That would be me.”
Alyssa let out an audible gasp and shouted, “What the hell happened!?”
Sarah told Alyssa about the Chinatown store, the ointment and her vain efforts to restore her legs by drying off.
“So, what do you want me to do?” Alyssa asked.
