Despite your best efforts, you fall asleep as you're carried back. When you wake up, you find that you are being carried by the vixen still, through what appears to be a town with an odd mixture of features. It's populated entirely by anthropomorphic foxes, wolves, and raccoons. The inhabitants are dressed in late 20th and early 21st century clothes, but the town itself appears to be closer to the architecture of the 1920s. Even more bizarrely, there are no cars present.
As the fox couple discusses the matter with the local sheriff, you learn that their names are Alexis and William, they've been married for two years, and they haven't been able to have kits. If they can't find your original parents (no chance of that, you think), they fully intend to adopt you, a thought that causes mixed emotions. For now, though, you'll be taken care of at the local orphanage until the investigation is finished. You mentally prepare yourself for the strangeness of the next several weeks.
The next two and a half weeks pass by quickly; you're visited every few days by the fox couple that are likely to become your new parents. The investigation concludes that you are not native to this place, and that your arrival was due to the elf's tricks. Apparently the little pervert is well-known around these parts, and not in a good way. Finally, the vixen, Alexis, scoops you up in her arms, smiling from ear to ear.
"Well, little one, it looks like you're finally coming home with us!" She goes on like this for several minutes, no doubt thinking you can't understand a word of it. She's clearly overjoyed to have a child at long last. You know that you can form some basic words, so you decide to try it in front of her. Reaching up to her face - you can't really point, your motor skills aren't developed well, and you've figured out you're well under a year old in terms of development - you manage to form the word "Mama."
"Oh my goodness! Will, she called me mama!" The vixen barely manages to hold back tears during the walk to your new home and your new life.
