During the week before finals Cody spent most of his time cramming in the library. Julius was spending most of his time trying to find an adequate familiar. He
looked over his notes once more and looked at his computer files of possible ideas. Julius stood up to pace the room and then he eyed some sketches on Cody's
desk.
Julius looked them over and started to formulate spells in his mind. He liked Cody a lot, but would Cody be willing? Julius sat down at his computer and stared to
type-in notation for some powerful spells. After a few lines he decided to draw a quick picture to go a long with his notes. It didn't really look what he had in mind,
it was a little more generic, but it was perfect to describe in shapes and color what he had in mind for Cody.
Julius finished typing out his spells. He triple-checked them and went over them a couple times to check if he could increase their potency. When everything
seemed to be perfect he smiled to himself and memorized the spells.
Later that afternoon Cody came back from cramming. He just crawled to his bed and fell on top of it, with a defeated look in his eyes.
Julius was concerned for his roommate but pleased at the same time. He walked over to Cody's bedside and kneeled beside him, "Are you all right?"
"Julius, I think you're going to have a new roommate next quarter. I'm just not cut out for this college. It's just too hard. I don't know what I'm going to do with my
life and I'm a failure."
Julius brushed Cody's stubble with his fingers, "You're not a failure. You did everything you could do just being you. If you're not here next quarter then I will not
request another roommate."
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Cody asked.
"I want you to know all sides of me. I want to be more than just your roommate, or friend" Julius said with a sincere smile.
"Julius..." Cody murmured.
"I'll make a deal with you, I'll make you a dragon" Julius grinned.
Cody lit up, "You mean it? What do I have to do? Finish college?"
Julius shook his head and stroke Cody's hair, "No. I want you to drop out. I want you to stay by me at all times for the rest of your dragon life. All you have to do
is let me take care of you. I'll buy you food and give you shelter. I'll even buy you those video games you like. I'll buy a big house and you can live in the basement
which I'll furnish like a cave with a dragon-sized hot spa and an extra large television, anything you want. You just have to be near me and by my familiar."
"I don't know" Cody hesitated.
"I've been watching you Cody, I've seen your drawings and I know you're lonely. You can have anything I can provide if you'd just give up this life you hate and
take one up as my familiar."
Cody looked into Julius' grey eyes, "Okay."
