17 year old Tanner was forced to babysit his 8 year old brother Derrick for the weekend while his parents were out of town. It wasn’t that they didn’t get along; in fact, they get along fairly well considering they barely see each other on weekdays. However, they don’t have that much in common, and Derrick had recently been grounded, which would make for a very uneventful weekend. To top it off, it is supposed to rain for most of the weekend.
Shortly after the parents left, the doorbell rang. It was a person who claimed that Tanner had ordered a package online recently, which he had denied despite that the person claimed that the package went to the right address. Tanner double checked the address on the package to find that it was the same address. The person also told Tanner that he didn’t have to worry about paying for the package. As soon as the person left, Tanner took the package to his room and opened it. Inside it was a CD inside a jewel case, a “webcam” with a USB port and a “bulky remote” also with a USB port and a charger. Tanner was skeptical but curious to see what it could do, so he inserted the CD into the computer and the “webcam” into the USB port in his computer. After 10 minutes of installation, a window popped up saying “Hello! Thank you for installing Chronivac v. 4.0! Would you like to scan?” Tanner clicked “Yes” and another window showed up, telling him to move back for the scan to take place. To his surprise, what he thought was a webcam was actually the scanner and the program was scanning him. Less than a minute later, another window appeared. This time, it showed all of his physical features, which he was surprised to find that it was very accurate.

The Chronivac then asks if another user would like to be scanned. At the same time, Derrick walked into Tanner’s room to ask about the package that came earlier. Tanner then told Derrick about what just happened with the scanning. Although Derrick was uninterested at first, he did think there would be more to it than just the scan, so he was open to do it.

After Tanner & Derrick were done with the scanning, a menu showed up with possible changes that the two can apply to each other as well as how long the change takes and goes for, among other things. Tanner decides to do a test change on Derrick to prove it actually works. He decides to shrink Derrick to less than an inch tall for 5 minutes. After pressing enter, the process is already working; Derrick is shrinking before Tanner’s eyes. Within a minute, Derrick is only 1 inch tall and finds himself standing on Tanner’s desk while barely as tall as the thickness of Tanner’s computer.
“Okay, so we know it works, but what should we change when I grow back?” Derrick asked Tanner, which gave him a lot to consider. As he and Derrick don’t have much in common, Tanner decides to change either his age or Derrick’s age so the two could relate more. If Tanner would change his age, he would like to be younger. If Tanner changes Derrick’s age, he would be older.
