“Maybe…maybe it’s because you’re still in the water?” Stefanie suggested hesitantly.
Melissa frowned. “True,” she agreed. Water had been the trigger for the change to start in the first place after all. Maybe it couldn’t reverse itself until she was dry. She glanced over the edge of the tub. Water had coated the floor, making it impossible to dry herself off there. She’d have to do it in the hall.
“It’s worth a try at least.” She turned off the shower, and then, with a smile, hugged Melissa and kissed her on the cheek. “It’ll be alright.”
“Thanks,” Melissa said, and for a moment, she was tempted to stay in the tub with her. But she needed to know. “Help me?”
With some effort, the girls managed to get her mermaid tail over the tub and onto the floor, where she flopped around awkwardly, not wanting to leave the water. She managed to pull a few towels down and throw them into the hall, and then dragged herself along the slick tile and onto the carpet.
She rubbed herself down as thoroughly as she could with the first towel, though it felt rough an course against the scales of her tail and breasts. She ignored it as best as she could. She spent the most time drying her hair, knowing that it would take the longest to dry.
“Oh!” Stefanie cried from the tub. “So, um, hey, we still have equipment down there…”
“Too much information, Stef.”
“Sorry. Oh, wow…”
Melissa rolled her eyes, but felt another blush spreading across her face. A few minutes passed, with Stefanie filling the silence with a few gasps and moans, having a good time exploring her new body and splashing around. She certainly was enjoying the situation. It made Melissa feel embarrassed at how she’d handled the situation. But to be fair, it wasn’t as though she’d asked for it to happen. Stefanie hadn’t had an easy life, with all that was going on. If this was something that could bring her joy, well…who was Melissa to judge her?
Emily probably wouldn’t see it that way…but then again, she’d also said that she’d expected Stefanie to transform herself. Melissa could have done more to stop it. She could’ve turned off the water. Been firmer with Stefanie. Had a part of her wanted it to happen, so that she could get her legs back?
It was depressing to think about.
No matter what, she’d never tell Emily about how they’d made out like that. God, it had felt good, though. Really good. Stefanie really was beautiful – even now. And she was so forceful. So sure of what she wanted. It was arousing. There was no doubt about it – Melissa was definitely bi. What a way to find out. This would be awkward – her friends sister! – under normal circumstances. This was miles beyond normal.
A few more minutes passed.
Nothing had changed.
Melissa frowned, trying to ignore the sudden sensation of dread. Maybe she wasn’t dry enough yet. Maybe…
She started to rub herself with another towel, more forcefully this time. Trying to get every bit of moisture off of her. She felt dry, but she continued to rub forcefully, feeling a sob break out.
Stefanie fell silent in the bathroom.
Melissa rubbed at her hair, trying to keep herself from crying. It was a losing battle.
Slowly, Melissa lowered the towel. She was still a mermaid.
Stefanie had transformed…and she was still a mermaid.
That wasn’t good.
She felt stupid. She should’ve known. Even before she’d begun transforming originally…Serenity had still had her legs. Something was wrong. Stefanie’s transformation had gone quickly. Melissa’s transformation should have gone just as quickly in the other direction.
“Oh God…” Melissa muttered. She looked down at her pink tail. She just wanted to be able to stand up.
“I’m sorry…” Stefanie whispered. Melissa glanced over at her, crying silently. Stefanie looked sad.
“Maybe it just needs time?” Melissa wondered out loud.
“Maybe…” Stefanie replied. They both knew that neither of them believed it.
They waited in silence. Waited for Emily to return.
They waited, and stared at Melissa’s tail, watching for any signs of a change.
