"Uh, I guess so." You shrug as you rub the huge dog's stomach. "They should be here soon. I'll go look for them."
"Oh, you've got a real friend here." The woman opens the kennel behind her. "Why don;t the two of you go in here for a few minutes, and I'll go welcome your friends and bring them back here."
The dog scrambles up and trots into the kennel, ears up and tail wagging. He looks back at you and gives a deep woof, then comes back out and licks your hand before trotting back in. He obviously wants you to join him.
There are some big toys in the kennel, and you figure you can throw a ball or play tug-of-war with a piece of rope. "OK. He sure is friendly. I'll stay here." You go in, and she shuts the gate.
"I don't want him running loose." she explains, and then grins and heads for the front.
The dog comes up to you again and rolls over on his back for more petting. You sit down next to him to make it easier, only to have him suddenly twist up and jump on you, knocking you flat. He starts licking your face slobbering all over.
"Bleh! Get off me!" You try to twist your head away, but the big tongue follows you. And he slobbers all over your hands and arms when you push at him. Laughing, you finally give up - it's just his way of saying he loves you. You get a mouthful of dog drool, and accidentally swallow it. It doesn't taste bad, just different - a little thick, coppery.
The huge dog is laying on top of you now, the steady licking feeling comforting. Without thinking, you lick him back once. He stops for a moment, and then starts with his tongue again. Then you lick him again, this time touching his tongue with yours as the two of you begin a mutual licking.
Your tongue and mouth are slick with drool now, but you dimly realize it isn't the dog's. You stop licking the animal back and shake your head in confusion, feeling your lips flop. huh?
The Newfoundland sits and looks at you, ears up. You sit up and find yourself muzzle-to-muzzle with him. Literally. A dark shaggy shape sticks out from between your eyes. Bewildered, you try to feel it, only to find that your hands are now massive paws just like the Newfoundland's. Your cry of horror comes out as a loud bark. As your tongue lolls out of your mouth and you pant in fear, you realize that you have the full head and paws of a Newfoundland dog on your otherwise human body!
