As the days passed into weeks, Joey tried to go on as nothing was happening. But try as he might, even though he refused to look in a mirror he couldn't ignore what was happening to his body.
Within a week Joey's skin was as white as milk. And the changes didn't stop there. Even though he wasn't eating any more than usual and very little junk food Joey had started to put on weight, especially below the waist. As his butt and legs got thicker, his feet got longer and his toes got wider, making it very hard for him to walk at anything than a funny waddle.
By the time a month had passed Joey's voice was starting to change, becoming deeper and with a goofy lilt accompanied by involuntary chuckles that crept into his speech when he least expected it. The virus was starting to effect his clothes to. All his casual T-shirts and sweatshirts were becoming tie-dyed and his jeans were becoming too wide to be held up by even Joey's expanding waistline and required suspenders. His good clothes had changed too, becoming baggier and brightly neon colored. Joey's shoes had grown to accomadate his expanding feet and even his underwear was becoming baggy polka dot boxers.
All this was affecting Joey's life at school. Many of his friends now wouldn't go near him, as if they were afraid he'd infect them and he was becoming a favorite target for the school pranksters. It didn't help that at least twice a week Joey's suspenders would fail and his pants would fall down, or he'd try to go faster than a waddle and he'd trip over his oversized feet. Finally, Joey realized he could no longer act as if he was still normal. Upon getting home from school he waddled to the bathroom and looked inside.
As he expected, Joey's complexion was milky white. Yet he was shocked by how far the other changes had progress. His face showed the weight he'd gained, highlighted by the bright red blush on his cheeks. His lips were bright red too and despite his current depression stretched into a wide, silly grin. Joey's eyebrows were gone, replaced by thick wide arches high on his forehead. Underneath the arched eyebrows wide blue bars stretched vertically down to the tops of Joey's eyes. Joey's nose was red too and just starting to plump up; somehow he knew it would get even bigger.
The very worst was Joey's hair. The curly blonde locks were turning a powdery blue and becoming even thick and curlier-around the edges. On the very top, Joey could see a white horseshoe forming around the thinning hair that was turning blue even as it was falling out.
Joey was only ten years old and already he was going bald.
