I thought for a bit, wondering what I should try next with the new ring. Making stuff disappear was incredible
and all, but I knew my imagination was better than that! Hmm...
Ah HA! I knew just the thing to try, and of course I was going to try it on myself; why let anyone else have
all the fun?
"I wish I could fly like superman!" I whispered. Immediately I felt lighter, like gravity was no longer as
strong as before. Glancing around and finding myself alone at the bus stop, I tested it out by giving a
little hop... BAM! My head smacked into the shelter's plexiglass roof! My little hop had lifted me off three
feet, and I probably would have gone higher if not for the ceiling!
Quickly I jogged to the nearest alley, ignoring the scurrying sounds coming from the dumpster area.
"Ok," I said to myself. "Maybe another little hope first, just to get the feel of this..."
I crouched down just a bit, adjusting my backpack straps on my shoulders. Springing up, I was immediately
airborne, zipping past office windows and above the roof in the blink of an eye!!
"Holy crap! This is incredible!!" I hooted! I started to feel the arc of my jump crest and tried to aim
myself towards the fifth-floor balcony I'd passed, suddenly realizing I didn't know if I could survive a fall
back to the ground from this height. Falling, rapidly gaining speed, I swung my arms, trying to get in line
to land on the protruding patio. Not much was happening though, and I was almost past the balcony, my mind
scrambling as the ground rose below me!
Think light thoughts! my brain screamed! You can fly! Think UP!!
... and just like that, just before impact, I was zooming back up, past the windows again as relief swept
through me! Rolling, I straightened my arms out above me, figuring I should get fully into character. I let
out a whoop of pure joy as I crested the first level of clouds, condensation washing over me. Not wanting to
go much higher, my body naturally leveled out. Letting out another shout, I simply thought it and a burst of
speed shot me through the clouds and out over the city!
