The tingling increased, making Trish feel a bit warm. She looked at herself and then her friends, "Is
anything else happening? I think it should be done, right?"
Liz and Jenn's eyes widened as a glow seemed to surround Trish. They didn't blink, but it was still a shock
when they realized that Trish was shrinking, her head suddenly no more than a foot above their own when they
sat on the ground! Her perfect proportions remained the same, but she was rapidly growing tinier and tinier,
now no taller than Liz's six-year-old sister, and still shrinking!
Trish yelped! "What the hell?! What's happening to me?!" she wailed, now less than two feet tall. She was
beginning to resemble a barbie doll with wings, but her frantic actions were much less graceful. Collapsing
to her knees, she continued to shrink until she was no more than six inches tall, where the changes seemed to
finally cease. Covering her face with her hands, she lowered her head and burst forth into surprisingly high-
pitched sobs.
"Trish! Oh my god, Trish, are you okay?" Liz tentatively reached out to touch her friend's tiny shoulder with
one finger. "Trish? Hey, c'mon, here," she pulled a scrap of tissue out of her cheerleading outfit and tore it
in half. "Trish, you're beautiful! I guess we didn't really think it through when we mentioned fairies, I
mean, we should have known they were tiny, right?"
Renewed sobs were heard from behind the veil of Trish's hair, and Jennifer let out a little whine, sharing in
her friend's distress.
Liz pulled the curtain of hair away, gently tugging Trish's slender hands from her face. Her cheeks were
pinker, her full lips turned down, but still, she was the most beautiful thing either Liz or Jenn had ever
seen, perhaps even more gorgeous with her glistening eyes brimming with tears, droplets sparkling on her
lashes.
"Come on, buck up! You wanted to try flying, right? Well look at your gorgeous wings!" Liz pointed to Trish's
back. "Take to the skies! We need to find Jamie to bring her back!"
Trish seemed to cheer up a bit at that, glancing over her shoulder and fluttering her new appendages. Jenn
looked around the chimes of bells seeming to tinkle on the air.
Climbing to her feet and standing at her new full height, Trish was miniscule perfection. She gave another
buzz of her wings, lifting a few inches out of the grass. A grin broke her face, the tears drying up and
falling to glisten in the green grass like tiny diamonds. Giving another burst of movement to her wings, she
was soon level with her friend's faces!
"I can FLY!" she crowed! "This is amazing!"
Jenn and Liz had to strain to hear her tiny chirping voice, a faint tinkling of bells sounding constantly as
her wings fluttered to keep her aloft.
"It's amazing, Trish! Now, we have to find Jamie, and you have to remember to come back here as well since we
don't have any more tries without you two! And try not to be seen, since you're both mythical creatures now!"
Liz was a bit worried letting their only other hope for normalcy fly off after their first! Glancing over and
spying Jennifer's mouth agape, her short, human tongue lolling out as she watched Trish fly about, she was a
touch worried about fixing all the changes.
Trish zipped back to Liz, hovering for a few seconds with apparent ease. "Don't worry, Liz, I'll find her and
we'll come straight back. This is cool and all, but I don't want any animals thinking I'm a tasty snack!"
