His girlfriend Brittany opened the door, and immediately her eyes widened and she put a hand to her mouth. "Oh, my God, Scott, what -- what the hell?" she said. "What did -- how did -- did you lose a bet or something?"
"Or something," Scott replied.
"This would be a great Halloween costume, except it's June," pointed out Brittany. She looked at the black disks that stretched out his ears. "What are those, fake earlobe extensions? Who did all the makeup and the wig and stuff? It does look really good -- I swear, you look like you lost about 20 pounds."
"Let's go inside first," suggested Scott. They walked in, and as Brittany shut the door behind the two of them, he said, "Nothing fake, no makeup, no wig."
Brittany chortled. "Yeah, right, come on." She reached up and grabbed the edge of his hat along with a good-sized handful of the red-tipped black hair underneath it.
"Ow!" protested Scott, as her yank did nothing but pull against his scalp.
She withdrew, the hat still in her hand, and looked a little scared. "Okay, really, what's going on here?"
"I think this is what's going on here," Scott said, showing the medallion in his right palm. Brittany reached for it, but he closed his hand around it. "I found it in that empty lot on Park Street where they keep saying they're gonna build condos. I picked it up and then just happened to be thinking about how hot it was, so I wished it was cooler. I guess it glowed, and suddenly there was a breeze and the temperature went down."
"It glowed?" Brittany asked skeptically.
"Then as I was walking past Rockville, they happened to have a Nightgrave video on in the window. I was looking at Dieter Schwarz and wished I could look like him, or something like that. This thing glowed again, and I turned into this."
Brittany rolled her eyes. "That's your story?"
"You got a better one?" Scott retorted.
She pointed toward his still-closed hand. "Okay, if that thing really glows and grants wishes, prove it."
"Fine," said Scott. "I wish..."
