"Hey Chris," Jim says with a chuckle, "did you put this fuckin' thing in my locker?"
Kevin and Chris turn to look at Jim. Kevin's face is expressionless, he wasn't expecting Jim to actually talk to the jocks. Chris laughed upon seeing the jockstrap, though. The piece of clothing was familiar to the quarterback and he thrived on his athleticism and anything related to it. "You know who I am, shrimp?" Chris asked condescendingly, taking joy in the fact that he was a jock and Jim wasn't.
Jim was a little shocked by the arrogant remark. He thought he could put the prank in a lighter situation and maybe even gain the friendship, however brief, of the quarterback. But the guy wasn't having any of it.
Kevin looked at the jockstrap and back to Chris. "That's not a very funny prank, dude," he said, questioning whether or not Chris actually put the jockstrap in Jim's locker. "That's because I didn't do it," Chris answered, walking over to Jim, still clutching the white jockstrap in his hand. "I could use a jockstrap though," Chris remarked, "I let your buddy Kevin here borrow it and his fat ass broke the strap." Chris slipped the jockstrap out of Jim's hand and took it.
"Wait," Jim said. "If you didn't give it to me I think I'd rather..."
Chris cut him off. "What?! Keep it for yourself?! Ha! A loser like you isn't going to ever need one. An athletic beast like me can at least use it!" Chris lifted his shirt up to expose his hairy waist and six pack abs. "I tell ya what. Come on down to the locker room with us and I'll show you I'll keep it in good hands. Hell as team captain I'll even let you on the field and throw a few around. How'd you like to be a part of the team for a day...?" Chris's question was tempting. Jim did want to be athletic. But before he could even answer Chris grabbed his shoulder and led him toward the football locker rooms. "Come on...it'll be fun!"
Jim, with Chris and Kevin entered the locker room to see a team full of athletic football players getting ready for practice. Most were either completely or near naked as they suited up for practice. Jim had never been in a locker room before and the presence of the athletes made him a little jealous but also admiring. The team turned to Jim, wondered what a kid like him was doing there, but quickly went back to minding their own business. Chris unlocked his locker and threw his backpack in before pulling off his shirt and taking off his shoes. "Hey men!" Chris shouted, quickly gaining everyone's attention, "my little buddy Jim here is going to help us out with practice today, he was kind enough to lend me his jockstrap..." everyone started laughing at Jim, wondering what a non-jock like him would be doing with such a signature piece of clothing. "...so I told him he could do some runs with us, we might even make the little guy into an athlete."
Everyone turned back to their lockers, not minding that their captain brought in a new guy, while Chris started going through his locker. Kevin walked to Jim and said, "I think they're actually being sincere, bud. If you don't want to do anything you can just leave." But Jim was curious now about the game and the team. "Uhh, I think I'll hang around" he answered before Jim nodded and walked around the corner to change himself.
Chris looked at the clean jockstrap, the gift from his new friend. "Well, I appreciate the gift," he said, dropping his pants and folding them up, leaving him in his boxers. "Here ya go, here's some compression shorts, gymshorts and a uniform shirt. Suit up, dude!" Jim looking at the pile of clothes on the bench, felt awkward being the new guy in the locker room. Wondering if he should play along with Chris's crazy idea or not...
