As the final bell rang, Luke and Mark interlocked their fingers and stretched their arms over their heads. "Ugh, finally! Now we can go home." Mark smiled straightened them in their seat.
"Oh yay..." Luke groaned, and when Mark gave him a puzzled look he continued, "Did you forget? We need to explain to our parents what happened last night." Mark sighed as he leaned back in their chair and slouched. Luke didn't seem to mind, or at least didn't care.
They sat for a few minutes as the rest of the students packed up their bags. Cody was in this class, and on his way out we walked by Luke and Mark, lightly punching them in Mark's shoulder. "Hey, cheer up you two. Do guys want to hang out tomorrow? I have the house to myself!" Luke and Mark glanced at each other, and Cody could tell something was up, "Well, just think about it ok?" Cody smiled before departing.
They wearily got to their feet and grabbed their backpack. They headed back to their locker to exchange whatever books they needed for homework that night. Just as they finished closing their locker Max showed up. He came over to Mark's side and greeted them. "How was your first day?"
"It was all right, nothing we couldn't really handle."
"Except I have to re-write my math test." Luke's words went unheard as they began to walk to the parking lot.
"That's good." Max stayed to the pair's right side, keeping next to Mark. "Any idea how you'll deal with tonight? I've been worried about it all day." He put his hand on Mark's shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. "I'll try to help you in any way that I can."
"I think we should tell them the truth." Mark smiled to the dismay of his brother. Luke on the other hand started to laugh, "Ya, I'm sure that won't be weird at all." Luke briefly cleared his throat, "Ya so, like... me and Mark got fused together by this magic suit thing, and got mad about it, so that's why what happened. It's all cool though, we'll be able to split apart by tonight, so don't worry." Mark gave their body a little shove and chuckled, "God... They'd look at us like we were crazy."
Max didn't find any of this amusing, "I'm being serious Mark! What are you going to do?" Luke was starting to get a hint that Max didn't want anything to do with him right now, so he just allowed Mark to do the walking and payed no attention. "Like I said, I could help you if you..."
"It'll be fine Max, calm down." Mark spoke in a even tone, "We'll just tell them what we told everyone at lunch. We just got a little angry, and it escalated. It'll be fine." Mark had always been the more level headed of the twins, and knew how to defuse Max's anger almost all of the time. Max nodded in acceptance at let the subject drop.
Zack had been waiting at the truck, and waved at his brother's as they approached. On the way back home, Max would look over as if to say something to Mark, but would stop once he saw Luke, who's head was currently blocking his view. It was impossible for Luke not to have noticed, and he was beginning to get annoyed. Mark however was unaware of the situation going on between Max and his conjoined friend.
