Your wife visits the Doctor first and she is able to pluck a scale from her flesh. Although, the Doctor is a bit surprised that her hair has grown so he asks you about it. She tells the truth.
"I see, this is very strange. Anyway, I will get some scientists to analyze the scale and I will call you tonight with the results".
Next your wife went to the hairdressers hoping for a quick haircut. Luckily, there was space available. Her hair was back to normal.
After work, you and your wife arrive home but you receive a phone call from the Doctor. He has some surprising news.
"We have analyzed the scale and the blood and what I can gather, I believe that your wife might have caught some type of fish related disease that we have never heard of. I have sent some men to ward off the house. I'm afraid that you are both unable to leave until your wife is free of the disease".
You put the phone down and explain to your wife what is happening. She is terrified and starts to cry. She is unable to do anything. You begin to curse yourself for doing this to your wife. it is only day 4 and she is already become a science experiment. You decide to not tell her of the genie because you think the scientists might be able to remove the mermaid DNA.
The men in protective suits arrive immediately and begin to cover the house with a large sheeting. The house looked like a circus tent from the outside. The men also grab your wife and they lay her down on a table. They put her to sleep and strip her. Just like the Doctor described to them, the scales were present on her waist and they notice the webbed toes. You are not able to do anything to help your wife. You are also checked over by the scientists.
It is almost midnight and the scientists were almost done with whatever they were doing. They bought in Doctors who were able to remove a majority of the scales and the webbing between the toes. They injected her with some kind of antibiotic. But being an unknown disease, they were uncertain if it was going to work. Your wife looked normal again and she woke up with you right next to her. Doctors were almost ready to leave but as soon as it struck midnight, they noticed something very strange. Your wife's waist was glowing.
The scales that took so long to remove suddenly disappeared from the scientists possession. He kept them in a sealed container but the scales painfully grew back around your wife's waist. Everyone was in shock as they watched the skin being pierced in multiple places then the waist stopped glowing. The toes then sported a blinding glow and everyone watched the skin between the toes grow a link between each toe. The glow then faded but your eyes moved towards your wife's glowing hair. The hair which was just cut yesterday was crawling down to the center of your wife's back before the light faded. It had grown longer and messier than yesterday.
Your words to the genie was clear in your mind. You clearly stated that she would become more of a mermaid each passing day. It was now day 5 and your wife now sits alienated in front of a group of scientists.
