Christian was working furiously with the Chronivac settings, deep down he actually liked this kid and wanted
to make his life better.
There was a fine line that Chris didnt want to cross, Erik's best qualities were that he was hard working and
tried to make up for his wrongs, Chris wanted to keep those qualities as they will help Erik in the future,
but not to the point that he's beating himself up at night. Given Erik's "pay your debts attitude" Chris could
see how he would want a way to escape every now and again but didn't want to turn this promising kid into a
druggie.
The easy changes were set up already, make him 22, college student, muscular, make him popular (he will always
have something other than studying he COULD do).
The final details were more difficult but Chris felt he picked well. Erik's desire to be more rugged, Chris
decided, would be in his outdoor's man knowledge, Survival skills up the wazoo. Come the apocalypse, Erik
would survive by himself. For rebellious, Chris was again torn but felt he did a good job at not setting the
kid up to destroy himself. Chris gave him knowledge of how to ride a motorcycle, raised his confidence a bit,
gave him a very high drug tolerance, and made him a light smoker.
Erik will be able to party with the rest of them but drugs wont give him any lasting effect, therefore it
would be a waste of his money and time to focus on them. He was a smart kid, Chris hoped he would be happy,
have fun and enjoy his new life.
Chris set the changes to permanent, instantaneous, and changed the subjects and world's reality to accept the
changes as being normal. Chris added a small detail to allow Erik's old and new life to co-exist until he
leaves.
Chris clicked go, went to the bathroom, and went back outside to ask if there was anything else Erik needed.
When Chris got outside Erik was halfway done with his cigarette, looking nervous and confused. He was a good
looking young man with something between heavy stubble and a light beard, he was around 6'2'' to 6'4'', and
probably 230 lbs. His leather motorcycle jacket was keeping most of the details of the physical transformation
hidden but the cigarette told Chris the mental changes had occurred.
"What the fuck is going on? What's happening to me?" Erik asked eyeing Christian suspiciously.
"I've given you what you paid for, check your wallet, I'm sure you have an ID indicating that you are 22 years
old in there." Chris smirked.
Erik thought for a moment trying to get a bearing on two conflicting realities. Then he reached into his
wallet and looked at his ID. "You did this to me somehow." he finally said.
"Yes"
After a moment of silence Chris asked if Erik wanted any other modifications before they parted ways.
Then Erik started asking the questions that were racing though his mind. Chris, just smiled and shut most of
them down, he explained that right now Erik is a 16 year old and a 22 year old in a 22 year old body, upon
leaving he will just be a 22 year old so it wont mess with his head.
After detailing all the changes Chris selected and why, Erik had just two modifications to request.
"I was 16 right? So, I'm loosing 6 years of my life. Can you make it that I age at half speed between now and
34?"
Chris was struck by how smart this kid was, the boost to his confidence he gave him should help him go far.
"And also," Erik continued absentmindedly lighting up another cigarette, "I like the smoking but don't want it
to get out of hand, can you make it so that I can't become addicted to it, its more of a social thing?"
Smiling Christian said let me see what I can do, disappearing back to the Chronivac. After making the
modifications requested Christian reappeared and announced the changes are done. Erik smiled, thanked
Christian and began walking away, he started up his motorcycle not realizing that this was actually his first
time driving one.
Chris stared on in amazement and pride at the job he'd done. He didn't regret doing it but was disappointed
that he only got $100 for the job. This worked out well, he was pleased, a little surprised that his paternal
instincts kicked in, but pleased.
Erik pulled out of the parking lot unknowingly triggering the erasure of his 16 year old self. In his mind he
was just going on a joy ride with his bike before hitting up the party tonight where he was going to have some
crazy fun.
