Unbeknownst to Jeff the broken emitter had been constantly leaking transformation emissions since he dropped
it on the floor. Thankfully for Jeff the emitter only had a 20 foot radius and most of the emissions were
corrupted and targeted people who didn't exist or weren't within range.
Every now and again the emitter did happen to process a change for Jeff as his profile was loaded into the
system and he slept close by. Several times throughout the night he had been transformed or modified though he
didn't realize. He had been turned into a tomcat, an 11 year old girl, and a 36 year old midget who rides a
unicycle at the fair, among others.
The duration of the changes varied but were done by the time he woke up except that until 12:37 pm, if he eats
rocky road ice cream with bacon, he will have an intense orgasm and be stoned for 16 hours.
The reality changes effecting his parents now were unlike the changes that effected him throughout the night.
First, this change was activated by the anti paradox AI unit, which made much more wide sweeping changes to
all reality. Second, the data corruption that was spreading and causing more and more errors and failed
transformation requests changed the duration from 139 seconds, into 9208 years, not that Jeff would care by
the time the effect wears off.
Though the transformation specifically targeted Jeff, additional modifications can be made freely when anti
paradox is activated, the program tries to keep a sense of normality about the whole situation to give the
user an optimal experience and allow things to flow more easily. Jeff's was the only profile ever entered into
the device, all other transformation subjects that had been targeted truly didn't exist as the program
essentially made the person up.
The system then loaded the program into memory and based it off Jeff's most recent transformation request. to
be hairier. The programmers at Transdem Labs were very through and therefore the AI program looked for tens of
thousands of things that could seem out of the ordinary, and corrected them through recursive simulations each
weighed against the last. The program actually stopped the device from doing anything else for countless hours
as it checked millions of alternate scenarios as to why Jeff would have a body full of hair.
The most reasonable answer was of course genetics, so Jeff's grandpa is now Italian (actually Mom had an
affair and these two are half brothers but we don't talk about it). Even being 25% Italian would not
compensate for full, heavy, adult beard growth at 16. Since that was the specific user request it cannot be
modified by the AI so it decided to add a decade, some adult males don't have full mature beards at this age
but the Italian blood does accommodate for the requested amount. Finally, a 37 year old father and 36 year old
mother with a 26 year old son does seem out of place, siblings seems much more reasonable.
With that the device fired up and changed reality by sending a signal directly to Transdem Labs for the global
perception and history modifications and zapping the sleeping Jeff who was only 12 feet away for the age
enhancement. Then the Chronivac began calculating a similar transformation for a Sa$4ly Hopkir9Xt, who doesn't
exist.
Groggy the next morning and not seeing most of his face from his beard growth Jeff didn't notice his jawline
or body had changed, only that he was more tired than usual and was craving caffeine (he is soon to be a
coffee drinker). The history modification enlarged the clothes in his closet so he didn't notice anything when
he got dressed.
When he spoke to his father and began to realize what happened two more things happened. First he ran to the
mirror (within range of the emitter) and saw a picture of his 'brother'. Second, the broken and disconnected
emitter which had been operating at full capacity for the last 20 or so hours, was close to loosing power
activated its emergency mode. As a final precaution, (as the countless warnings sent to the broken visual
display have been blatantly disregarded), the Chronivac sent a final modification to is subject to accept this
reality as real, enjoy the situation (whatever it may be), and then sent a warning signal to Transdem Labs
that there might be a situation. With that the emitter finally turned off and Jeff began to remember always
looking up to his much older brother and pining for the day he could grow a beard like the one he has now.
