A giant spider? The words were so unexpected that he had a hard time realizing what they meant before the
fantasy world that he saw seemed to vanish.
The next moment, he was in darkness. It wasn't black, but close enough. He stood perfectly still, but soon
realized that he wasn't really standing, but rather sideways on a large web. He was in a cave, but high up in
the height of the cave. There wasn't anything to give him scale, though. He couldn't see anything nearby
that would tell him what he was really. Was a giant spider here the size of a human hand or a city bus?
He was deeply curious about himself and his surroundings, but didn't move. An instinct told him that he was
safe here, that to travel around without need was dangerous. Food would come. Indeed, he cast his gaze around
the massive web and saw several web coated bundles scattered about. They were too thickly bound to tell what
they had been. Insects? Rats? People?
He had lost sense of time, though there was light coming though the opening, when he first heard voices
outside. "Does this seem like a good spot?" came a young womans voice.
There was a pause and a sigh, "I think so. We can shelter in the cave until the storm passes. We'll need to
get some fresh water for the horses, too."
"I think there is a stream a bit further down the trail," replied the woman.
There was the sound of gear being dropped to the ground. "Take the horses, I'll have camp set up before you
return."
