"For this next challenge, we'll be trying out our upcoming Arena zone." The sprite said.
"Arena? So that's what, Fantasy?" Will asked.
"Not quite. I'm sure you all know that more than just the four core genres exist in Transformazone." The
sprite said.
"Yeah, but where does that mean we're going?" Cal asked.
"Tell me, have any of you played in a little place we like to call the Pop Culture genre?" The sprite asked.
"Only for ten levels. It seemed really underdeveloped." Rebeca said.
"Exactly. That's why we're adding a new zone where you can duke it out with some of the best characters from
all kinds of media." The sprite said.
"Alright, lay it on us, who are we gonna be this time?" Will asked.
"Yourselves. In order to truly test this, I have personally concocted avatars for you. Before we get to that,
allow me to explain the rules of this tournament. There are eleven simultaneous competitions. These
competitions are: barbarian, bard, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer and wizard."
The sprite said.
"3.5, nice choice." Logan said.
"Thank you. Now, each competition is almost entirely separate from the others. As such, you will be fighting
only opponents of your class. Since there are only five of you, six of the classes will be tested at a later
date." The sprite said.
"How exactly are we gonna stand up to your 'best characters from media' guys?" Cal asked.
"Simple: loot. Skill is only of minute importance in any MMO, while gear is king. As the fights progress, you
will get better and better equipment. Not necessarily after each fight, but sporadically throughout the
tournament." The sprite said.
"So the point is to get the best gear and kill the most dudes." Rebeca summarized.
"So nothing too out of the ordinary." Will said.
"Oh, it's not ordinary. Aside from a small handful of defining abilities for the class, you will have to rely
on your sheer luck and skill alone until you can stand toe to toe with these guys with your gear. Whoever gets
farthest in the competition wins. There can be ties though, and anyone who is eliminated in the first round
does not count as having won, even if you all TPK in round one." The sprite said.
"Have a little faith sprite. We've taken on your challenges before." Logan said.
"Yes, let's take a look at that, shall we? In the first match, you conned someone into doing your work for
you, in the second match you all split up, each taking a more insane approach then the last, and the last
match was only won because of complete desperation and mental trauma." The sprite said.
"I see no problem with any of what you just said." Will grinned.
"For once, I agree with Will." Cal said.
"Fair enough. Let's start!" The sprite said.
