As the family settled down to eat, Joy felt rather sick, and asked to be excused from the table. She ran upstairs into her bedroom and sat on her bed. After a few moments, she got up and looked into the mirror on her door.
"Oh my gosh." She murmured. Looking at her reflection she noticed her eyes turned to a light blue. She stared, unable to comprehend. She thought back to what could have happened. The rock! She realized with a jolt. She looked into the mirror again. I can't tell Dad... or Mom. They will think I'm crazy! Turning to look at her clock she saw it was 8:00. Feeling sleepy she layed down on her bed thinking.
Tom was enjoying the evening. After dinner he played music and danced with Denise. He took her hand and brought her into the living room. Tom took the rock and held it again. He stared at it, only half awake now. He brought it to Denise. She stopped smiling.
"Why did you even bring that rock home?" She asked softly.
"Just feel it dear." He said pushing it into her palm. She felt the same energy race into her. Tom then put it back on the shelf which seemed to put them both out of their daze. She remembered what if felt like. Stronger then Tom had, she felt an ancient instinct within her. Tom looked at his wife fondly now. She seemed happier now. He laughed and they danced some more.
While this was happening, Brandon sat in his room, worried. His dad and mom were dancing. He hadn't seen them this close since he was three. He wondered if his parents had ate a piece of rotten broccoli. As he was pondering this, his sister came in looking upset. She sat down on his bed.
"I know this may seem crazy." She said.
"Everything is crazy today." Brandon replied.
"Something weird is happening to me." She said in a small, scared voice.
"You can tell me." He said softly. She looked at him with her round blue eyes.
Blue eyes? He peered at his younger sister more closely. She stared back at him. She closed her eyes and spoke.
"It's the moon rock." She said. Brandon almost had to choke back a laugh. "When I touched it... I felt, almost stronger somehow." She said serious.
"Yeah okay." But as he looked into her eyes he sensed she was telling the truth.
"Is that how your eyes turned blue?" He asked.
She turned her gaze to the floor. And held her silver necklace around her neck with a wolf on it.
"Yes."
Suddenly Brandon felt strange. He looked down and passed out.
Pitch Black.
