"Um, could we get started with his shots first while I think about it?" Karl asked.
"Oh, certainly. Has he had any shots yet?"
"Only tetanus, I think," said Karl, then seeing her reaction added, "It's a joke. No, this dog has not had any
canine vaccinations to my knowledge."
"Right then," she said checking a number of boxes on the form. She handed Karl the form and instructed him to
head back to exam room 2.
Chad whimpered softly as he dogged his master's heels. He had been here plenty of times when he was human, but
this was his first time as a dog and his whole perception of the place changed. It smelled of sick animals, and
he was so much shorter than before. The ceiling loomed high over head. His ears perked up as he heard a dog in
the operating theater let out a muted whine. It was anesthetized, he was sure. He shuddered thinking about his
potentially empty nut sac. Why did dad have to be a vet?
"Hi Karl," said Chad's dad, "Fine looking animal you have with you today. Looks like he needs a lot of shots
today."
